Just that in the offseason people tend to find one or two players that they get way too high on. I'll be happy if our passing game has a heartbeat and if any of the wide receivers show up.

I actually agree with this. The media had a lot to do with it as well. I remember a few "it's Avery Peterson's time to shine" articles, last offseason. I wonder about him, 6'2 200lbs 4.4 speed. Does he have stone hands, or does he think learning routes is for wussies? Why is he not able to get on the field?

Also I will repeatedly say this, go to a 3 WR base offense. We have so much damn WR talent, and we keep recruiting tons more. Last year, most of the plays were, pass to a WR going 15-25 yards down a sideline route, or dump it off to the RB.

AJ is awful the whole year and never sniffs the bench. Trey Quinn has one bad game after a great start to the season and is punished the remainder of the year. I'll never understand Les Miles' management system. The only good thing is Trey missed being part of some of the worst offensive play of the year in the last few games.

Lester, do you have any #s for OBJ and Jarvis drops in 2012?

I know they had a case of drops, just can't find exact figures and interested in what the # is.

Thanks bro

Edit: In fact, does anyone have the actual #s? Thanks.

The fact that he even saw the field as a true freshman is pretty impressive. Same for Harris.

im looking forward to seeing both in the future.

ding ding

As a fan I fully anticipate all of these young men to improve each game. Some very gifted athletes struggle to make an impact, like Russell Shepard, but Quinn, Diarse and Dupre all showed flashes last season. Looking forward to seeing what they do next season.

I really hope Trey is able to overcome the drops and be a contributor this coming season. But the fact is he has not proven to be as good as Dural, Dupre, or Diarse thus far. And we have Johnson coming in.. I'm just trying to figure out how he gets involved on a regular basis when we're only throwing it 15 times a game.

Quinn started out looking good and comfortae early on in the season... But was a different player when we played Miss St. He had that deer in the headlights look. First time against SEC defensive players as a true freshman will do that to you. And Miss St had some freaks out there, specifically Benardrick McKinney. I remember we ran a bubble screen to Quinn and there was space there but McKinney closed on him so fast and threw him to the ground like a rag doll.

He had a hard time getting used to playing against SEC defenses with size and speed. And that's hard to do as a true freshman. Quinn will be fine and will be a very good WR for us. Not worried about him at all.

I don't think the SEC or NCAA keeps track of dropped passes.

Landry didn't play offense his first year

I never said he did.

He made a circus catch on the first throw of his second year; it was a short out. He made great catches all year long, including one for the ages at Arkansas.

None of this has anything to do with the fact that he had a problem with drops early in 2012.

Just because you don't remember it doesn't make it untrue. Landry had a problem with drops early in 2012 and he didn't become consistent until the back end of the season. The stats back it up.

1st 8 games:

23 Receptions
216 Yards
1 Touchdown

Last 5 games:

33 Receptions
357 yards
4 Touchdowns

There isn't a site that tracks drops in college football.

Perhaps not, but I'm sure they are out there.

I mean I can find that info for 2013, just not 2012.

I'll keep digging when I have a chance.

Do you not remember how pathetic our passing game was at the beginning of '12?

Yes, and I also remember Jarvis Landry having some issues with drops, and I'm not the only one. Once again, just because you guys don't remember it doesn't make it untrue.

Actually, in hindsight, the drop helped us. The chance of our offense getting to the 3 yard line on its own was almost zero percent at that point. Quinn's drop allowed us to punt it down there and have Bama fumble it. Obviously he still needs to catch the pass but in hindsight the drop was good for LSU

You serious with this nonsense?
