Penn St as a team simply struggled to run consistently last year. They were worse than we were running the ball. I wouldn’t put that all on Cain

This. They weren’t particularly good running the football in general.

We went from 8 RBs on the roster to 7. Also if the Scholls opens up there is another spot CBK can fill in this year of fill to 85

This is bad. If Cain isn't SEC caliber, we are going to need Emery to be a quasi bellcow, and that is not a good feeling.

Didn’t Harold Perkins also play RB? No clue if he was as good a RB as LB though.

Why are you leaving out his very solid freshman year? Last year was his first year back from injury. He has a history of producing in college you just ignored it because it didn’t fit your narrative.

Based on Kelly’s vague quote about Bradford being “separated from the University,” it seems pretty obvious that he was processed out for some reason. The wording says it all.

This crap hurts this year because of depth in certain positions, but needs to be done to change the culture from the shite pile O left behind.

I believe that LSU fan fave Josh Pate said that if Perkins were being rated as an RB out of high school he very well could've been the #1 RB in the class!

The issue with Emery, Cain, and Goodwin is they have all proven to be injury prone.

Not sure I would say Emery has “proven to be injury prone.” As far as I can tell he’s only missed one game due to injury, Ole Miss in 2020. And even then I think he may have technically been available.

He’s a talented back, but he’s obviously a pussy.

I thought Kiner would be better than Tre. Now we don’t have either. Too bad but next man up

Small List of LSU Backs who didn't play the year previously to their first year of playing, which resulted in their break-out year:

Dalton Hilliard
Kevin Faulk
Justin Vincent (whose first year of playing was his best year)
Leonard Fournette

Then you have CEH, who mainly played as a special teams player his first year, and in his second year did this:

quote:

As a true freshman, Edwards-Helaire played in all 13 of the Tigers' games, playing mostly on special teams and rushing nine times for 31 yards.[4] As a sophomore, Edwards-Helaire finished second on the team with 658 rushing yards and seven touchdowns with 11 receptions for 96 yards and also returned 17 kicks for 416 yards.[5] He recorded his first 100-yard game in a 38–21 win over Louisiana Tech, gaining 136 yards with two touchdowns on 20 carries.[6] Edwards-Helaire rushed for 145 yards in LSU's 36–16 victory over second-ranked Georgia.[7]

Not playing the year before at the RB position is not as detrimental as you would make it out to be.

It's not a position like QB, OL, LB, or DB that typically requires experience to become at the least functional - if not great.

The OL will determine the RB's success more than the RB's "Experience" will.

We will be fine at running back. Hell josh Williams is solid and averages over 4 yards a carry
