Outside of two fluke long bombs vs Alabama, how’d LSUs defense do? Ole Miss game completely negates that? This Ole Miss game, their worst game of the year is their identity now?

How many yards did Vandy run for? Season high. How many yards did Trask throw for? Season high. We have up two huge run plays to Auburn, one for a TD, without Whitlow that kept them in the game. We gave up more chunk plays to Bama. Even more to Ole Miss. we gave up season high yards to Texas, a team that looks incredibly average at this point.

Feel free to gloss over the problems, but they go FAR beyond one game. Teams eat our D alive in the second half, we can’t tackle, we can’t get pressure on QBs and we don’t play fundamentally sound in assignments. Please refute ANY of this.

While we should be a little bit concerned about the defense, keep in mind that LSU has played a bunch of really good teams. I still agree with you overall

Nope.

That really doesn't explain Ole Miss though

Notice almost all of our troubles result in big plays. We are having breakdowns on defense

It's fixable.

VA Buckeye - interesting info

Where did you get those stats? Did you figure it yourself?

I agree that your team is the most balanced at this time. LSU defense playing at its best is very good but far from great.

After bye week two, you are what you are. Patching is the best we will see through the SECCG.

Thanks for posting this because our defense is horrible and that's Aranda's fault! Either he needs to make big changes or he needs to move along. We can get a coach for a lot less and get better results!

I would absolutely agree, but itsnot like we are playing bad defense across the board. It's the big play thatskilling us.

People don’t factor in that part of the defensive struggles are a product of the offense. The defense
Is on the field all game with this offense that scores lightening fast.

OM's first TD drive after halftime came off 2 plays

Our offense then went on a 17 play 6 min drive for a FG

OM then, once again, went 70 yards on 2 plays for a TD

This myth needs to geaux away

wait - you think our D has played well all year, except for Ole Miss?

Really?

Wisconsin’s number 4 ranked defense. What’s their record again??

Or you’re telling me you’d rather have 1 loss and be ranked the 3rd best defense like Utah??

Get out of here with that crap. Defense just have a bad game man. We came into the game giving up just 100 yards on the ground. We won by 21 on the road and y’all still bitch.

I looked up each teams averages on the NCAA stats site them compared their averages to what they did against Ohio State and LSU. If I'd taken out the individual games against Ohio State and LSU the stats would have weighed more heavily in favor of the Ohio State defense as over half of the FBS opponents exceeded their average against LSU.

I just look at the facts. In the last two seasons Ohio State was in the same position as the LSU defense this year. They were a sieve at times and gave up an abnormally high number of explosive plays. At some point that isn't a trend but indicates a flaw in scheme, execution or talent. Fortunately for Ohio State the talent was there so the scheme and execution adjustments this season have lead to a vast improvement.

While it is ok, it just won’t matter.

There is no one that is stopping this offense. Nobody.

The best defensive efforts we’ve faced have been in the weeks before our biggest games. When we gameplan specifically for a team, this offense is unstoppable

Why is our defense not in any way, shape or form comparable to the best in this league?

First, because our defense isn't as good as Auburn's. Do you think you have a birth rite to the best of each unit in football?

Second, Auburn's opponents play more conservatively because they know Auburn can't score. Even we did it.

Apples and oranges-The difference is schedules. Similar schedules are the following -Georgia and atm are above us. We beat Florida and Auburn, so who cares- probably Alabama is above us too. We are fine. Great chance to do great things so sit back and enjoy. Half our fan base will never be satisfied.

Agreed, that is melting

There are also posters, like the OP, who believe the defense has issues that need to be addressed if we want to win a national title.

To which the usual response is "STFU 10-0!"

This is his point

This is a very reasonable response...not a melt
But you may still be called a Nega

Ole Miss has the No. 1 SEC rushing offense and No. 9 in NCAA.

Ohio State as the No. 4 and Clemson has the No. 10, but that have not played top defenses like Florida, Auburn or Alabama.

LSU has played the No. 7 (Ga. St), No. 9 (Ole Miss), No 23 (Miss St) and No. 26 (Auburn) rushing offenses and came away with the wine.

LSU has been tested by rushing attacks and still wins.

The last time we played Ohio State they were the top defensive team in the nation.
How did that work out?
Which team that is ranked in the top ten has played two teams in consecutive weeks that had an offense like Alabama and Ole Miss.
