Patterson was not better than Aaron Hill.
Patterson 3 years:
59 Runs .350 16HR 51 RBI 162 TB
70 runs .341 14HR 67 RBI 169 TB
74 runs .369 20 HR 56 RBI 179 TB
.353 50 HR 174 RBI 203 runs 510 TB(led team all 3 years)
Aaron Hill 3 years
27 runs .299 5 HR 36 RBI 62 TB
46 runs .320 9 HR 47 RBI 122 TB
68 runs .358 9 HR 67 RBI 157 TB
.335 23 HR 150 RBI 141 Runs 341 total bases
Patterson basically was a better average hitter, better power hitter, and better run producer.
As i said, one of the most underrated hitters all time at LSU. Hill obviously had the name. Patterson was a better hitter. It's almost not close.

Only at LSU can your Top 5 hitters have 6+ names, you can't fit them all in, unless of course you are Stony Brook

Damn that's weird. I don't remember Patterson putting up them numbers. He's definitely underappreciated.

No love for Trey McClure?
59 Career HRs (3rd all-time at LSU)
202 Career RBI's (4th all-time at LSU)
461 Career Total Bases (7th all-time LSU)
163 Career Walks (tied for 3rd all-time at LSU)
This guy always gets forgotten about when talking about great LSU players over the years (tends to happen when you play with guys like Larson and Furniss) , but he very quietly had a heck of a career here.

Nate Dunn has 2 very fine seasons in 1995 and 1996

This is the top 5 in order:
1. Todd Walker
2. Eddie Furniss
3. Russ Johnson
4. Brandon Larson
5. Trey McClure
We have yet to see what Rhymes will do over the course of his career here but he could very well be on this list by next year. I would love to see what he could do with the old bats.
As for the list, no doubt that Todd Walker was and still is the best pure hitter that has ever played for LSU.

Some really good names on these lists although I was surprised to see how little Joey Belle is remembered, and I was surprised at myself to have forgotten just how good Trey McClure was. Like one of the posters noted, he played in an era with some great hitters.
Another underrated hitter IMO is Brad Hawpe. I know he is on some of the lists, but you're talking about a guy with tremendous pop.
Here is a name that I doubt will get mentioned but he deserves it: Joe Adcock. Also played hoops at LSU and is one of the school's all-time best athletes. Wish I could find his college stats, but he played 17 seasons in the bigs and hit some of the longest HR's ever recorded. 'Nuff said.

Albert was the best at hitting water coolers.

nick satvinoha had two good years not saying he was in the top 5 just a pretty good hitter

1. Brandon Larson...say what you want about the bats and all that...he hit 40 frickin homers and hit damn near .400. No argument. We do not have the science to prove that Blake Dean and Ryan Patterson could have outhit him in the new era of bats. Silly and stop it. Here is #1. End of discussion. Name me another Tiger who hit .390 with 40 dingers and over 100 ribbies. Thank you.
2. Todd Walker
3. Joey Belle
4. Eddie Furniss
5. Russ Johnson
Hon mention to Patterson, even though he was lost as Manny Ramirez at times.

I love all the people who just wanna mention names.
"No love for Sean Barker?"
"You have to include Chad Cooley in there!"
No you don't.

I am not sure who is the best 5 hitters at LSU but if you go by clutch hitting only then there was no better than McClure...

Rapt deserves no where near top 5 list and I'm a fan of his but far to many good hitters to mention his name
