I know Saban had game managers at QB, much like he did at Alabama, except for Tua now who will give him his first real QB, and a damn good one. I hate that because that kid can sling a ball, I saw it in the spring game they played. But I brought up Saban because his defenses were so great he didn't need a great QB to win nation titles, that was the point I was making.

If they ( Ens & O, which will be a feat I'll have to see - Lol) come up with a serious passing attack, Myles Brennan can probably shatter all LSU passing records made.

If LSU had a very good coach from say 2005 to now, with the recruiting classes we had + possibly good QB, I fully believe we’d have 2-3 more titles right now.

Just hilariously sad to look at the NFL and what LSU wasn’t able to do.

We don't develop QB's because we teach them to be scared shitless of making a mistake, give the WR's dogshit routes to run, and in general refuse to utilize anything but the outside quadrants of the field in the passing game

We don’t have a good quarterback not because we don’t have good q.b. recruits, it’s because we don’t develop them.

Agreed it all starts with the defense because you're generally never out of a game if you have a strong defense.

That year Miles had Mett, OBJ, and Landry he should have went unbeaten and easily won a title that year. He also had Hill at RB, a got damn NFL offense that was lighting schools up and he still lost to people, and hated what Cameron was doing at the start of the season all the way up until Florida with the strong passing attack and all. He made him go back to pounding the ball, the only bullshite that he knows offensively. Lol

I enjoyed the hell out of how they were passing the ball that year. The shootout with Georgia was extraordinary.

Miles was plenty good enough. We recruited well and we're right in the thick of thing almost every year until the end of his tenure. But the difference in a 10-11 win season and a national title season is small, and that piece we were missing was reliable QB play.

couldn’t in good faith let my kid play for Ed Orgeron. There’s no plan, no direction.

Hard to admit but I did prevent him from recruiting my kid this year. I can't allow him to squander his potential when Jimbo fisher is right in our back Yard.. The kid bleeds P&G too.

It's both. We've signed plenty of kids that were highly rated in high school, transferred, and didn't do anything at their new school either. We haven't evaluated QBs well either. It's almost like they just look at star ratings without watching the kids play. And we're not the only school with this problem. Florida has as well ever since Tebow.

I'll never understand why some players will go fight 3 other qbs at some schools and will not even look at another that needs a qb for a big puzzle piece. Why subject yourself to that I'll never know. Especially if the roster is loaded with 4 and 5 star qbs.

It's not a graveyard necessarily, we just haven't signed many good QBs.

Since Jamarcus left, here are the guys we have signed:

2007: Jarrett Lee 4*, 10th ranked Pro-Style
2008: Jordan Jefferson 4*, 11th ranked Pro-style
2009: Russell Shepard 5*, #1 Dual threat (converted to WR), Chris Garrett 3*, #19 Pro-style (trasnferred to NW State, didn;t start there)
2010: Zach Lee 3* #21 Pro-style (played pro baseball)
2011: Zach Mettenberger 4* #1 Pro-style JUCO; Steven Rivers 3* #18 pro-style (transferred to Vandy didn't start there)
2012: Gunner Keil 5* #1 Pro-Style (never showed up to campus, signed w Notre Dame, transferred again to Cincinnati)
2013: Anthony Jennings 4* #14 Pro-Style (transferred to ULL, sucked there too); Hayden Rettig 4* #9 Pro-style(transferred to Rutgers, bad there, transferred again to Tenn Tech)
2014: Brandon Harris 4* #3 Dual threat (transferred to UNC); Brandon Bergeron 3* JUCO (walk on never played)
2015: Justin McMillan 3* #35 Dual Threat; ***Danny Etling transferred in with the 2015 season.
2016: Lindsey Scott 3* #26 Dual Threat (transferred to EMCC)
2017: Lowell Narcisse 4* #9 Dual Threat; Miles Brennan 4* #6 Pro-style

Biggest takeaway....from 2010-2016 the only player we signed that was highly rated and actually good was Zach Mettenberger. Jennings and Harris were both highly rated, both failed here, both failed worse at their next destination. Hayden Rettig and Gunner Keil were both highly rated but never took a snap here (Keil never making it to campus), and bounced around after leaving. Not only have we not recruited well at the position until last season, we also signed 4 complete busts, and that means, to me, our staff did not know how to evaluate QBs at all.

And of the 17 QBs we have signed since 2007, 7 have transferred, 1 played pro baseball, 1 never made it to campus, 1 changed positions, 1 has never played and 1 was a walk on. That's 5 QBs in 11 recruiting cycles that have actually made it all the way through the program and contributed (not counting Brennan and Narcisse yet). Those QBs are Jarrett Lee, Jordan Jefferson, Zach Mettenberger, Justin Mcmillan and Danny Etling. Two of those were guys who transferred from elsewhere, so that leaves Lee and Jefferson as the only two that were recruited and signed out of high school that actually played and finished at LSU....and their last season was in 2011.

Yeah I looked through the records in the LSU media Guide. I was shocked to see the same thing. I mean LSU had Bert Jones and of course McClendon didn't utilize his skill sets at all. He had A pretty darn good career in the NFL.

His kid might be trash. What makes him think his kid would be worthy to receive a scholarship from LSU.

We can all shite on Miles all day long but he’s the reason we had all that talent for those years. He may be one of the most frustrating coaches to watch coach a game but the man recruited very well. He also ran a really good program. You can’t just plug Some random coach in his place and expect the recruit to continue to show up , the program to run itself in the off season, etc

FYI, if Nick Saban was successful in the NFL and never goes to bama, I think Miles would have won a couple more titles. But what if’s don’t mean shite.
