"you step one foot off campus and you're like where TF did I just go?"

quote:I really hate that take- a lot of posters on here fall in line with that narrative too, but that really only applies to the northern edge of campus. You go immediately east and south and there are some really nice, exclusive neighborhoods there, and for quite a ways. Of go west and you hit the river so that is n/a.

yeah I was going to say the north gates is really the only area where there's a pretty clear border of where it goes to shite

You are correct and unfortunately not just a BR problem. Living outside of Baltimore we do go to the Inner Harbor for both football and baseball. Really pretty nice but don’t venture too far away.
Arguably the best hospital, in the world, Johns Hopkins, is surrounded by a complete and utter nightmare of an area. A few miles away Johns Hopkins University is in the same situation.
It’s a real shame.

I went like 98% of time at LSU without going over there.

I agree. I immediately knew which side of the campus they "stepped off".
They probably went to Canes, then across the street to circle K and decided that was a little too far.
That said, Baton Rouge is a pretty depressing place in most parts. I never understood why they didn't relocate the BR airport. I imagine most people who fly in for the first time immediately want to GTFO after seeing the airport and it's surrounding areas.

See, I disagree. When you roll out the airport and the first thing you see is Parish lockup, I think that sets the proper mood for your Baton Rouge experience.

But its accurate. If he flew in private to BR they came in and out of the North side of campus. shite a 1/4 mile off North Campus gates and you're already in the hood.

Name an airport in America that is in the nice part of the city it is in.
No one wants to be by an airport and anyone with the means to do so will move away from said airport. So no matter where they move it in a few years that area will be terrible.

Exactly. Nobody with money wants to live near an airport.
