Yeah, I'm not sure how raising cattle qualifies one to be a member of the board.

The same guy who in 2015 said that Miles needed to win the last 2 games of the regular season to potentially save his job

On paper, though, he seems to have served in many related leadership capacities over years, and is likely very knowledgeable about the Ag side of LSU.

He was a BIG problem during the Les MIles hiring/ firing fiasco and was unable to keep his mouth shut to the press.

I've met him. He is the epitome of Big Ag/Monsanto. Not sure how he feels about sports except for his comments during the Les Miles Saga.

Could you do it? I love how people like to crack on farmers and ranchers as if what they do (which btw is feed, clothe, and shelter the world, among other things) is somehow easy. I would love to see most on this board attempt to do it and see how quickly you fall on your arse and then get buried 6 ft under.

Aside from that, Ronnie Anderson is on the BOS b/c of his position as president of Farm Bureau. FB is the leading advocacy group for agriculture in the state, which btw, is still the leading industry. FB holds a lot of power in the legislature that many do not realize. Additionally, and most importantly, LSU is a land grant university that also has “A&M” in its official name. For those of you that don’t know, the “A” stands for agriculture and is to be one of the focal missions of the university (even though the school itself often misses that mark).

I should clarify, I hate Big Ag, but Ronnie is a genuinely nice guy and is not one to "big league" you, in my experience.

I hope he hates F. Queen and loves sports.

Who is "cracking" on farmers? Nobody put them down. Many people can excel in their given profession, but that doesn't necessarily qualify them to supervise a university system.

It’s a crack because you attempted to disqualify his ability to serve in BOS role based on his job, which I’m sure you perceive as not prestigious enough to quality one to serve LSU. Also negating the fact that his day to day job is to serve as president of Farm Bureau. So yes, all of those qualifications do make one qualified to serve.

Never said you were arguing it. My point is, again, that LSU is a major agricultural university with the purpose of training and advancing the industry. So being a rancher who leads the largest agricultural organization in the state again more than qualifies a person to be on the BOS.

I can attest to this. He takes zero dollhairs as the president of Farm Bureau. Completely voluntary. He's a goood ole baw.
