Sadly I remember it well.

The only word that describes that game is "bizarre."
Auburn won without scoring an offensive touchdown.

Was at that game. I remember it being one of the loudest stadiums when they picked the last pass. Gabe Northern was locking them down if i remember correctly. The last pick everyone in my area where screaming to run the ball…but we didn’t.

I can’t believe it’s been 30 years.
I was living in Knoxville, TN at the time. I drove down to meet friends & go to the game. We were yelling to punt on 1st down. Some of the Auburn fans were laughing & some were pissed, because they knew their offense wouldn’t score. We all left the stadium in stunned silence. No one knew what we had just witnessed. That was a long drive back to Knoxville by myself.

Blame Lynn Amedee. Cocksucker kept calling those plays and then blamed Howard after the game.

^^^^^^that link
It is the most sickening video to watch. Not as much in the balance as 2011 Sugar or Yeldon pass.
But Hallman called it the most deflating experience he’d seen and I agree.

Wife made me go outside to calm down. But was in El Paso and it was hot as shite. All we had to do was run the ball and we would have won easily. And the younger generation bitches about play calling now. They have no idea what we had to suffer with during that time period.

LSU was completely dominating Auburn until the idiots in charge kept calling pass plays. All they had to do was run the ball and punt.
I never blamed Howard for that loss. I felt sorry for him because he had to play for two complete dunces.

I was there, I don't think we'll see the likes of it again. As I recall Auburn had either only one or no first downs the whole second half and scored 4 TD's on pic 6's.

The crazy thing is, MIss State hired him a few years later to be their OC under Jackie Sherrill.
The guy bounced around A LOT. From College to HS. He was terrible.

I can remember all the talk shows wanted him hired. Former LSU QB and he had been an OC at A&M under Sherrill when they had some good years.
But yeah, that game - I'll never understand continuing to throw the ball when Auburn couldn't even get a first down on our defense. We were dominating them.

We listened on the way back from fishing in Venice. We absolutely smoked the fish that day and had this to go home with.
