And Paul Dietzel, an Ohio product also. In fact, Stovall and Orgeron are the only two head coaches from Louisiana since at least before Dietzel. McClendon (Ark.) Hallman (Ala.) are the only two other Deep South head coaches. Arnsparger was from Kentucky and played at Miami (Ohio) and Archer was born in Pennsylvania and played at Miami (Fla.). We’ve had more head coaches with strong ties to Ohio before coming to LSU than Louisiana.

I think most fans are happy having a coach that doesn’t necessarily fit into our culture but maybe more importantly speaks well and appears to hold his players accountable, raising personal expectations of his players. What is concerning is his ability to hire good coaches. Unfortunately his hiring of coaches thus far have been, well, terrible. So far I believe his mistake has cost us over 5 million dollars. I trust that he will make the right decision soon and as he said after the bowl game would stabilize our program. I know this can’t be rushed but hopefully it happens quick enough to grab some elite players remaining in transfer portal
