How does that success translate to recruiting? If recruits head to schools with staffing solidifying vs. in shambles, then it kind of helps to improve the future prospects of the program.

All O can do is play the games on the schedule so it's not his fault. We aren't 6-2 yet though so let's not put the cart before the horse.

Absolutely. I've posted about this before. If we finish out the season delivering death blows to the remaining teams we have a solid resume at 9-3 or 10-3 if we win the bowl game too. We can then start to pick off recruits from teams in transition. We are hosting Hall the 5 star WR from Cal Poly. His QB is a Top 10 prospect committed to Florida (Corral). Give the young man a call. We can raid other team's cookie jars.

It's an us problem too, when fans like you are using them as a barometer for O's performance.

yes, I use them as a barometer. he lost to miss st. and troy. that shouldn't happen. he also got the team to turn around and play better. they fought bama about as tough as could be expected with a limited roster. lets face it, this aint the usual lsu roster. its obvious you don't like the hire. he wasn't my first choice either. if he wins the last three and a decent bowl, ill give him a C+. go ahead and accept the fact that he's not getting fired this year. not with the buyout, and not with that arrogant prick in the AD office. he's coached the games on the schedule. next year will be his judgement day.

Covering the spread against Alabama and maybe being ranked at the end of the year is all of a sudden considered a successful year.

LSU was ranked 12th in the nation this yr. and now we are ranked like 25th. How that even begins to get a tag like "outstanding coaching job" is a mystery to me.

If the past staff had tanked the start of a season, loss by 14 to Bama, and be 6-3 on the yr. with 1 good win, the cry of outrage would have been heard coast to coast.

How the goal post have moved for some.

Never once said that. But your insight is always appreciated.

Worthless. Any ranking before late October is ridiculous

Next year is the test. Tough schedule, but his staff and players.

The loss in conference to State was awful as well

Well I like state so im biased. But the state loss was only bad because we got dominated not because of the team.

State isn't a bad team. Mullen is the best coach in SEC not named Saban.

and again, this is a different team. There is way more confidence, leadership, and hustle with us since the Troy loss.

You have said it over and over in every thread about this years team....

And I highly doubt you will be at the game Saturday...

I quoted your post twice. You, and Spears, were wrong. Just admit it.

I am right.

LSU hasn't finished better than 3rd in conference since 2012. FACT!

We could and probably will this year.

2nd>3rd. Your bravado and arrogance doesn't make you right.

Spears' argument was based on conference wins. Mine is based on finishing position in conf.

The last 5 years, LSU hasn't been better than 3rd.

None of which has to do with 2013-2017.

Your response has nothing to do with my post.

please list all the elite programs then. I imagine it won't take you very long, because based on your post it will be a very , very short list.

Time frame record may make you feel better but this is reality for finishes since 2012.

3rd in '13
5th in '14
4th in '15
3rd in '16

Just to set the record straight:

3rd in '13
Tied for 4th in '14
Tied for 3rd in '15
Tied for 2nd in '16

They are a statement by other coaches as to team expectations at a certain point in time. While not the begin all or end all, its better to be ranked higher than lower in them since they are there.

They are not his staff or players now? Hasn't he been at LSU since 2015 and interim/HC for 17 games?

Next year is the test

I think this yr. is a test too, but I agree that next yr. will tip the scales.

So what. Win out and finish 2nd possibly is a good first season. It's not exactly easy to replace a famous HC who won a ton and was here over a decade. New offense and dealing with a lot of roster issues. And considering the bad start I'm pretty impressed

win out and go 6-2 with 5, possibly all 6 of those wins coming against coaches will be unemployed come next month.

I already said "credit to O for turning it around" , I just am merely pointing out that O didn't accomplish some Sisyphean feat.

The turnaround was an outstanding coaching job. Look at the entire season and it is poor overall. I was only discussing the noticeable improvement after the Troy game.

The season is not over yet. What would you say if we end the year on a four game winning streak and are ranked in the top 10?

It's not always about where you are, but about where you end up and by my count we've got four more games to play.

You twisted my words earlier and are now judging as if the season is over already. You need to post less.

You said we were the 3rd best team in the division over a period of time. You are wrong. No other team besides Bama has as many wins. Stop trying to move the goal posts.
