No. That's the one we were laughing at. This was posters like Cub and Project giving general predictions in Adam's grade thread.

All the coach can do is put us in position; the players have to perform. The last two times CPM brought dominant teams to Omaha, Bregman and Poche killed our chances in game 1 by committing errors on the most routine plays.

Manieri is doing a great job at LSU. Baesball is a streaky sport. It's likely that soon LSU will make deep runs at Omaha.

There was a good reason for Mainieri’s ability to win at Notre Dame: He’s a really good coach. One of the best ever.

The book isn’t written on this season yet, but this may be Mainieri’s best coaching job ever.

So when we win it's because "Mainieri put them in position to win" and when we lose the players "didn't perform"?

In 2013, in the 9th inning Mainieri let Rhymes swing away into a double play. Then in 2015 Mainieri started his second best pitcher in game 1.

I don't know about that but after putting in 5 infielders the other night I'm ready for more of his recent brainstorming. Maybe infield shifts for pull hitters like some pro teams.

When your coach is a hall of famer who ranks in the 20's in the ranking of all time winningest college bb coaches- then yes- you give him the edge in that most of the time.

Not sure why we're even defending our coach to our own fan base.

Their pitching was far from elite.

21 runs in 2 CWS games during the dead ball era.

ELITE.

And Stony Brook's lineup should have been hitting over .330. Look at their conference.

Annoying, isn't it?

I've been crusading against their mindset for years. It's always the same group of losers-in-life who claim to be LSU fans but who criticize one of college baseball's most winning coaches, usually using the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, in order to feel better about their failure of a life.

Put differently, the perfect season for those LSU fans on the Rant (in any sport) is for the team to go undefeated, win the national championship and the head coach gets fired.....

I can't wait to pull up a thread from last fall. I'm not going to do it yet...I'm superstitious about this stuff.

That's very true and the same could be said for LSU football "since the days of" Nick.

Maybe....but is still sounds vaguely like an excuse to justify any fuk up CLM/CPM might create. They don't/shouldn't get a free pass on every bedshiting incident.

This highlights my dislike for CPM. He's a matchups coach, and in big games you have to throw matchups out the window and read your people.

Rimes couldnt hit the floor if he fell out of the bed in 2013. Don't care what his stats said, rimes had a terrible postseason that year.

And you have to get that first win in Omaha. You have to. You never play the "well if we lose the first one..." card in Omaha.

You can't blame Les for the failings of the football team and then blame the players for the failings of the baseball team. There's more to coaching baseball than filling out a lineup card.

How much credibility do you think you have discussing LSU baseball if you can't even correctly spell the name of one of LSU baseball's best hitters in the last four years???

3 of our 4 top hitters (Bregman, Ibarra and Rhymes) were 0 for 24 in Omaha. Katz was the only one that had a good CWS at the plate. That is hardly Coach's fault.
