I'm sure his team is understanding and wishes him the best. The team probably wants what is best for him, too.

Opting out for a meaningless bowl game is 1 thing.
Opting out for the entire season is something totally different.
This young man’s career was left for dead under Pellini.
He got back right, had a memorable season and fully deserves to make the best decision he can make for his future.
Congrats Damone, you are indeed an example of what type of player this program needs.

Well he was the worst player on the team last year and was a large part of our struggles last year and early this year. He turned it around though around mid season and started playing well. Good for him and I hope he has a successful NFL career but I don't feel bad about calling a spade a spade.

Wait, so you agree with him opting out or mad that he has? You said the same people including yourself. This post is confusing.

Dude good grief. Get some arse, bro. Whichever type is your preference.

The only beef is being an 18 but maybe we just need to stop the number tradition for a bit.

no, the issue was ed giving those out like gold stars for attendance rather then being stand up guys and team leaders who earned the right to wear them

top to bottom ed destroyed most traditions here like that and treated them with disrespect

Yeah it stinks. He’s a great player. But unfortunately in this day and age this is how it goes

The NCAA has allowed Collegiate Football to turn into a feeder program for rich NFL Owners. Rather than an opportunity for a young man to get a quality education at a great university.

Collegiate Football is kaput. Post season bowls are now officially history.

That was about 1948 or so?

You people that pretend college football was some sort of pristine amatuer sport for students to participate in athletics and show school spirit. It hasn't really been that in nearly a century for all the major programs.

It's been the NFL's farm system since they colluded with college football not to accept underclassmen in the draft then to limit when players are draft eligible based on college eligibility.

Yep, and some of us cling to the ideal that when we see experience and leadership, gained from playing collegiate team sports, trickle down to our grandchildren (including our grandsons) we feel it was tax dollars well spent. Lord knows they need "authentic" heroes today.

Once upon a time, there were great college football players. There were great players and great men. Hershal Walker and Archie Manning come to mind. Great coaches too. Johnny Vought, Bear Bryant, to name a couple.

God, we sure do need heroes.

May Pelini's legacy wrinkle as fast as burning his contract did.

2019 was the last great year for college football! It probably will never be the same again. Sad!

As much as I hate players quitting on the team I get the why. Bowl games are basically meaningless unless you are in the playoffs.

You also get to concentrate on the combine. It is more a result of CFB changing making games meaningless and its getting worse with the NIL, transport portal that is basically free agency.

Can't blame the players looking out for themselves, Kudo's to the ones that do play and do stick with the team.

Not to him personally, but finish what you started. It’s becoming a generation of quitters and that hurts everyone.

Well, you were wrong. Spectacularly so. So why should anybody give two farts about your opinion now?
