Not so fast. Be prepared for the dreaded -OR-.

Between Daniels and Brennan we have two very different types of QBs for a defense to prepare for, thus making it worthwhile to keep the decision under wraps as long as possible before the FSU game.
CBK has already came out and said he doesn't see any value in hiding who his starter is going to be. We will know who his guy is very soon. The notion that he will play his cards close to his chest in order to gain a competitive advantage against FSU is a stupid one

I will take any bet for $10,000 each straight up that Brennan is the starting QB..
any takers???l
we can connect off line to make this legit..

Shitty offenses usually don’t know who the QB is and yet the defense doesn’t give a shite

If Brennan is still on the roster then it will be Brennan. I don't see him pulling out of the portal without an agreement from Kelly. Not a starter agreement but an agreement that he will get his answer soon enough for him to transfer somewhere and play. That clock is ticking so I'd say at the end of next week if Brennan is still around then I'd put money on him starting. I just don't see him throwing away guaranteed playing time at a place like Southern Miss to sit behind someone for his 6th year

What makes anyone think he will announce it? If I was him I wouldn’t. You’ll figure it out by Labor Day I bet.

I think the team will have a good idea, if not outright already know, by the beginning of the week of August 22nd. Given LSU has a new offensive staff, a new offensive system, and isn't opening with a physically overmatched mid-major or FCS opponent, the staff is probably going to want to spend a little extra time tuning in the starting offense for FSU.
I suspect the coaches already have a good idea who they think the starting QB will be, but will allow the other guys the first two weeks or so to change their minds.

I feel like the time for that would have been after the spring. Even if Brennan were to decide to transfer next week, I doubt he would have enough time to find a new school and get prepared to start game 1 in 3 weeks. Even if he did, how good of a team are we talking about here if it is one that is so desperate for a QB that they are willing to take in a completely unfamiliar new guy to be their starter this late? If that is the case it may just be better to be the backup at LSU with a chance to come in should the starter be ineffective or get injured vs. starting for a bad team.
That said, I don't think Brennan is going anywhere, regardless. I've always felt like he was a "Sigma Chi" who also liked being an LSU football player, vs. a football player with big aspirations of being a pro QB. In other words, I think Brennan likes being an LSU and would probably be an LSU student even if he wasn't a football player. So he's probably ok with being the backup (though I'm sure he'd be disappointed) because it means he would still get to be an LSU student. He's never struck me as someone with a burning desire to be a NFL QB. Otherwise, he probably would have gone elsewhere long ago. Especially when Burrow, with two years of eligibility left, was brought in to replace him as the presumptive starter after the spring of 2018.

Unless brennan screws up by kickoff, I think he takes the first snap
That said, I think we’re going to see multiple qb’s take snaps this year

The week of the FSU game!

I've seen a little bit of all of them and am honestly comfortable with either of them starting. That said, it better be Nuss or Brennan.

Why does he need to announce it? Make FSU prepare for all of them equally and then trot out the starter on our first drive and then game on.

McMillan ans Narcisse transfered around the 2nd week of August in 2018. Narcisse went juco and McMillan went to Tulane. Both played. McMillan played in 9 games that year.
I don't think quality of team has anything to do with it. At this point Brennan just needs to get on the field and put something on film. He hasn't shown anything since his injury the 3rd week of the 2020 season.
You make a lot of assumptions about him. Lol at him just liking being an lsu student over having aspirations to play in the NFL. Wow. The kid has already graduated. Why would he be putting himself through all the off-season work just bc he enjoy(ed) being a student at LSU? Lol. Jesus.
When Burrow was brought in Brennan became the only other QB on the roster after the above mentioned transfers. 1 injury and he's in, plus he was looking at 2 years of eligibility after Burrow. That's why he didn't leave then. But there is no more future. He needs to be on the field if he has any hopes of continuing to play. Unlike you I don't think he's just happy to be here.

It’d be the wrong guy if it was decided already. New coaches, new system, new players, and deciding during spring? No thanks.

What makes you so over-confident? That badly under thrown ball MB threw to the end zone in the spring game that then got batted and deflected into the hands of Malik Nabers for a fluke touchdown?
I'd bet you, but you have never laid your eyes on that much money at one time in your life, let alone had that much money.

It's already too late. Plus, who wants him? Maybe Southern Mississippi if he is lucky?
