You guys who keep beating this drum are such idiots. He's had good defenses his whole tenure here. Has he changed or lost his ability to coach from just last year? No. What has changed? We have an offense that scores very quick and we lost an all time great linebacker in Devin White.

The last couple of years, the defense hasn't been as talented as a whole as we're used to as LSU fans, especially on the de line. However, the last couple of years it was also masked by an offense that slowed down the game and reduced possessions/number of plays for the other team and thus the total offense and points that the other team would put up.

The fact that some of you have no clue what you're talking about and just speak out of your arse and want to get rid of a damn good coach is ridiculous. With an offense like this, our defensive line has to be deep and it's just not quite there yet. That's one of the reasons they're taking so many de linemen this recruiting cycle.

It wasn’t. We only needed 39 points to win

This is a message board called the RANT.

Personlly, I'm wired to optimistically look inward continuously to improve myself. I don't associate or work with people who aren't strong enough to do the same.

Some of us fans can't ignore the obvious. Something is missing on the defensive side of our team and we expect more out of our highly-paid football defensive staff.

I completely agree. Aranda should get the criticism for his our defense had played this season and the total lack of improvement when there are glaring problems to be addressed. He's always recieved all of the credit when our defense is great and performing like they should, well, he should get the backlash when our defense has performed like it's done for most of this season. The thing is, we have seen flashes of how good this defense can play at times this season. They're not playing to their full potential and that's on aranda, I'm sorry. If he ends up costing this team a fricking natty bc of how he has our defense performing, then his arse is going to be in deep shite. I promise you coach O isn't turning a blind eye to it and just letting aranda slide. He sees it even moreso than we do and I know he knows that it's not up to snuff. We have the talent, it's time to perform like a fricking LSU defense should. Get this shite fixed or get the frick out. Straight up, there are plenty of teams and coaches out there that wished they had the talent to work with that we do, I promise you that. We are the ranked in the 50s nationally iirc from hearing someone on ESPN bring it up the other day. That's totally unacceptable with the talent and resources LSU has at it's disposal. It's time to play like we are capable and stop making excuses. It would be one thing if everyone knew we were just really young or didn't have the talent to improve, but I'm sorry, that's just not the case and everyone knows it...most of all orgeron. I'm sure he's jumping arandas shite and letting him know that we have to see improvement bc there are no excuses for how they've been playing and showing zero improvement. Geaux Tigers.

Stop it! The same point was made last year about our offense. We have the same offensive players as last year under a new scheme and we are breaking records Just stop!

So if LSU wins the national title game 45-42 you won’t be happy because the defense gave up too much

The “this is college football now” people clinging to any excuse for Dave’s performance are so stupid.

Rich Rod was running the same offense he’s run for 20 years last Saturday. Dave was woefully unprepared for it.

I think Aranda's a good DC.

Some big problems we have had are with technique - piss poor tackling, lack of gap integrity and being out of position during the plays. And all of that is on the collective coaching staff. Sadly, most of this kind of stuff should get worked out during spring and fall camp. But it hasn't been.

I think Dave calls a good defense - last series against Bama being exception - but the players aren't executing in some basic technique and missed tackles and blown assignments allow offenses the opportunity to gash us like they have in some games.

Gotta coach that stuff up. We should be okay as our offense can bail us out - thankfully.

I wouldn't say its on Aranda if you watch the film. The defense gave up big plays and I don't think its scheme or play calling.

OM was 2-11 in 3rd down situations.

OM had nearly 500 yards on Alabama.

I don't think there is anything to worry about. As much as I would like our defense to put up a goose egg every time, unfortunately that's just how some of these games go. The main take away from these games is getting out with a W and no injuries

On to the next.

Been saying this forever. Get ready for the Aranda cultists to tell you that you hate LSU, he's doing great, he has no players, etc., etc. The fact is it's time for this guy to go. Our defense has become a national joke.....as well it should.

Aren’t you a big Orgeron supporter? If so, why are you assuming you know better than he does?

Way to dump on Coach O.

You said you’d replace him with Barney Fife or literally anyone. Your stupid opinions are moot.

More strawmen there than at a Wizard of Oz costume party.

LSU is 10-0 for the 4th time in history and we’re firing coaches. Should O be on the hot seat? Or does he get a pass for the D. He’s only the head coach so he no input on the scheme, game plan etc. some of you are such maroon’s. And spare me the no one is above criticism bs. We are 10-0 heading for a SEC CG and the playoffs. It doesn’t matter if the D has the pretty stats they’ve had in the past.

If Aranda is the one telling players not to watch the ball or maintain lanes and assignments, I agree.

Watch OM game when we are on defense in slow mo, it's the players.

Go back and look at every long touchdown run, defensive players were out of position. You cannot tell me that Chaisson was not coached and does not know that he has outside containment on the second touchdown, see pics below. Chaisson goes for the fake and allows Plumlee to get outside, no way Logan can make that play. These were mental mistakes and players not doing their assignment, not a problem with our defensive coordinator. The players have to execute, it does not matter how good your DC is if the players don't do their job.
