This is the dumbest shite ever. He’s not owed any of this in a lump sum. It’s paid out over the remaining term.
Make the right hire and it’ll make enough to pay him out over the next 36 months.
You actually can’t afford not to fire him. There is a real risk of basketball operating at or near beak even next year if you keep him.
Bingo we have a winner..

Where does this rank all time in LSU's history?
IMO, he's easily the worst HC of LSU MBB ever... and it's not even particularly close....

He is without question the worst ever since the day he got here he has kept LSU in the bottom of the SEC. It is past time for him to go,he has had 4 years to do something and there in last place again! Bye Bye McClown go on get the frick OUT!!!

How can you consistently bring in talented recruits, be ranked in the top 25 and yet still end up this bad? Coaching
Posted on 2/21/26 at 10:26 pm to robertgamb
Halfway through SEC play, year 1 I posted that he would end up having the worst winning% in program history. Before I posted it I thought that maybe making that claim was a bit irresponsible and careless but then I thought about what I was seeing on the court every game and it took about 30 seconds to realize there was 0% chance I was wrong about him so I hit submit.

Let me ask you a couple questions.
Who’s the better player… I know their production numbers, I just want your opinion..
Reece or Mosely?
Miller or Tamba?
How far apart are Carter and King talent wise?

Good evaluator of talent, he is not.

He isn’t good at anything. Look at his roster construction, any through line? Does our style fit our players? 4 years, 4 completely different types of roster all trying to play the exact same way, a style that didn’t fit any of them. There isn’t a word in the English language for how inept this guy is.

How does the worst coach in program history, for any sport, achieve such an absolutely loyal cult?
Those are the WW haters. They’d rather lose everything forever than to have The General here.

Make the right hire
Not that easy. For one thing, much to my chagrin and to the chagrin of many posters here and countless LSU basketball fans, Will Wade is NOT COMING BACK. And it's just a crapshoot selecting a coach--for every Byington or Golden out there, there are three or four that may be as bad or worse than McMahon. Also there are two other SEC teams who may be parting ways with their head coaches-- a lot of fan discontent with Porter Moser at Oklahoma and Lamont Paris at SC. Even Chris Beard at Ole Miss hasn't been any great shakes there.
Keep McMahon one more year, give him the money and just let him coach for pete's sake.

Why do you think it’s a crap shoot? You don’t think it’s possible to identify a good coach?
Posted on 2/21/26 at 11:42 pm to tarzana
No, it really isn’t a crap shoot. Anybody who sat down and interviewed MM and came away with this is the guy that has what it takes to win at the highest level is an idiot.
What is a sure thing is that every dime you sink into MM is sunk cost. If he stays it’s another waste of NIL funds on a team that will sell the fewest season tickets in modern basketball history at LSU.

His style doesn't match the way we play down South
I believe Coach McMahon has lived and worked in the South his whole life. He's from Oak Ridge, Tennessee (you can't get more "southern" than that) and he coached for years at Murray State
Posted on 2/21/26 at 11:47 pm to ellessuuuu
His style of play matches his demeanor. Soulless, bot, directionless, not really basketball but someone trying to mimic basketball.

I want to believe this is a troll.

I had one earlier tell me that we need to keep him because if we win the program will lose a ton of money but if we lose we’ll make plenty. His reasoning was the girls team loses money but they’re a winning team so the same applies to the boys. Not trying to be mean but these people have something wrong with them.

Good grief.
