He'll be a bettervpro than Simmons.

6'6 pt guards are solid in the pros. Plus he gives effort.

I don't know if he'll be a better pro than Simmons, but this thread reminds me of last year's thread when Mickey turned pro. A lot of the "experts" here thought it was stupid decision. He then went out and tore up the pre-draft camps and played his way into a high 2nd round pick and guaranteed contract. Eventually people are going to realize that the players aren't the problem here. It's the head coach. Jones has no business being a high-major HC and would never have been one at any other school but LSU.

He gives effort for a game or two and then disappears for games.

Blakeney is a way way way better ball player than Quarterman, and always will be. With Quarterman gone, I think Blakeney is all but gone too. He'll likely be a 1st round pick, and I don't think he'll want to stay and play for this dumpster fire program with a huge piece of shite head coach. And honestly, I don't blame him one bit.

It will be Blakeney's team next year if he returns. He's got a chance, in my opinion at least, to see a meteoric rise in his draft stock by coming back and balling out. I don't think it's about CJJ or LSU. I think it's a smart business decision.

quote: LSU junior guard Tim Quarterman will declare for the 2016 NBA draft and hire an agent, league sources told The Vertical. Quarterman, a 6-foot-6 point guard, is expected to sign with professional representation on Monday and forgo his right to return to LSU before the May 25 deadline, sources said. Quarterman, 21, could garner interest in the first round of the draft and is ranked as the No. 7 junior by The Vertical draft insider Jonathan Givony. He averaged 11.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 33 games this season. LSU had a disappointing 19-14 season and has lost Ben Simmons and Quarterman to the draft.

This is proof that God doesn't hate LSU

Dude. This is the weakest draft in a long time. He will be drafted in the 2nd. Like 99.9%. He has potential. But he needs to show the effort in practice to get rostered.

A long 6'6" PG that can score and defend, he was a legit first rounder before this season.

Did he shrink? Or did he just have a bad year playing for a coach that doesn't seem to know what he's doing?

Everyone in here saying he had a good or great year in '14-'15 and was a potential first rounder, but now he's undraftable because he had a bad '15-'16.

His stat line was virtually identical the last two seasons.

Played with lack of effort a ton this year. Also played awful in a ton of games. He was not consistent last year. Scouts want effort for projects.

I know he was a freshman, but there were lots of games this season where Blakeney just wasn't a factor at all. I do think he'll improve next season, but not having Ben around will make it much more difficult for Antonio. I think he'd be better off if he leaves LSU now, and starts getting paid & coached at whatever level he can.

I hope not. He was one of 3 guys on the team that actually seemed to give a shite all year
How did Blakeney become this boards hero and only player that receives no blame? He was non-existent for a ton of games this year. I just dont get it. Is it because he makes the "Kobe face" so this board all jumps on the "he shows effort" bandwagon?

Saw just how weak the draft is. I mean Grayson Allen lottery? Hell Scheyer would have been lottery in this draft.

Don't they have like 14-15 over seas players going first in most mocks?

I'm no Alleva apologist, but dude has been undermined on a few things. F King on the Miles deal...

I don't think we'll ever know the extent of what happened there, but I sincerely believe King's about-face only surfaced after Alleva's weird, fricked up leak job to the press trying to see which way the wind was blowing. THAT was what created pandemonium. King likely saved us, knowing that with a university just letting a coach twist in the wind, we'd already completely shot ourselves in the foot on getting a top candidate to replace him with.

There's a lot of inconsistency in this post. Come out even though your body of work wasn't what it needed to be. Don't come back cause you're not good enough without Simmons. Expect to get drafted...profit.

Not really...I'm saying that Blakeney should go somewhere, anywhere that'll pay him some money and coach him up for an NBA future.
