Les isn't going anywhere unless he asks for a medical retirement for his brain damage. Other than that, we'd better get used to his wacky ways and his strange way of communicating.

seems like someone would've filed a public records request by now.

Has any 5-0 coach been in this kind of hot seat before?
It's really strange when you look at the numbers
57-15, MNC 3 seasons ago..2 trips to ATL 1 SEC
4 BCS blow out victories in 5 seasons
Top 5 recruiting class on board
Are we stoned?

We are not as stoned as the guys coaching the offense and calling the plays.

The silver bullet is McCarthy and his recruiting violation under Miles' watch. Les' buyout will be negotiated down due to the conduct clause.

You are overblowing it.

What are you basing your opinion on?

So consensus of thread...contract ends 12/31/14...buyout after this year is $15 million...if terminated this year, buyout can be paid over 8 years...
In short, we could lose every game the rest of this year and the next and financially we could still be stuck with Miles.

Just a possibility I was thinking of...
I think the lawyerly people are probably right about the contract requiring rollover.
I think there has to be some basis for the assumption that he hasn't been rolled over.
So let's look at how that could happen:
2008 - LSU wins only SEVEN regular season games. The contract is vague to this point. LSU could certainly interpret it this way. Miles would probably not agree and would be upset that he wasn't rolled over...as per the rumors.
2009 - Miles wins 8 regular season games triggering the presumption of a rollover. However there is a recruiting violation by a coach on staff that requires his termination and a self report to the NCAA. There is certainly the possibility that LSU used this as a reason to deny the rollover for cause.
This is just an opinion of course...but it is at least a possible explanation that covers all the legal bases I think and would explain the confusion.

Tim Brando's obesity is underrated. He's really fat.

In the end, we have a dumbass AD and chancellor to thank for even allowing such a stupid contract to be drafted, signed, and approved for a man that was never even offered another job.
Bertman and O'Keefe panicked like the morons they are and basically screwed over LSU in the process.
Lombardi and the LSU attorney drew up that contract, and Lombardi got the BOS to sign off on it. Was Bertman's hire, but wasn't him that generated that extension.
Also, everyone who is trying to calculate the buyout. Throw all the calculators out. Bank it, the buyout is $15M to be paid over 8 years...period.

I'm not reading all the pages of this thread but for the people saying his buyout is his annual salary x 4 years
shouldn't the buyout be that amount at present value?
