What difference would the A&M win have made?

We would’ve gone to the same bowl game

Can't believe I'm answering this, but I guess I am here...

Well, for starters, we'd have the win over A&M and wouldn't have had our streak against them broken in Jimbo's first year right after we had pursued him over Les Miles and Ed O. I should move this to the recruiting board, and I guess that's point #2.

We also would've finished with a better record. I know, it's crazy to care about W's and L's. And I don't know that we wouldn't have gone to a different bowl, nor do I know that we wouldn't have finished ranked higher at the end...neither one of us knows.

Last, we finished 3rd in our division. A win would've given us 2nd. Again, those stupid rankings and stuff.

If at least half the fan base isn't thrilled, the season likely wasn't a success...this sentiment isn't exclusive to LSU.

rd to call it a success when we didn't hit a single team goal. Didn't win the NC, didn't make the playoffs, didn't win the conference, and didn't win the division.

The season was not perfect, but there was clearly improvement. Improvement in many areas that was led by coaching decisions and actions.

This is success as compared to the complete, idiotic thrashing the team and coaches took from certain fans, the NEVERO's. The coaches were called every name in the book (Special Ed, Shrimp Boat Captain, etc.) and the LSU football program was characterized as collapsing. NegaTigers were questioning why recruits would even consider LSU. There was talk of boycotting games. Compared to the fools who posted this nonsense...and continue to bash our program at every opportunity...the season was a success.

If you can't see and admit the season was a good step in the right direction, you should delete your TD account and find another team that you think deserves your support and opinions. Quit poisoning LSU and move on!

We should be ranked higher than Florida, tougher schedule, our best win was better than their best win and they got blown out by a team that wasn't ranked.

That's nice. I'm pretty sure the players would say otherwise, but sure, let's call it a success.
....let’s see, 10 wins since 2011 and you say it wasn’t a success...I’d hate to be your child....

This season was a small step in the right direction.

This season was NOT a success, though. It was a decent season and a small step in the right direction. I would rather be going forward than backward, I assure you.

If we take enough steps in the right direction, we should eventually find success. Success may be different for many of us...for me, it's either making the the SEC CG or making the playoffs.

I tend to disagree with a number of your posts. This one is just ridiculous.

None. Same bowl-same end rank.

Once we beat Texas we will be #2 or #3

We finished #6 and if you look we were the second highest ranked SEC team. This is a big success for our program.

Consider the fact that Clemson finished with zero regular season wins over a final AP Top 10 team, and only one regular season win over a final AP Top 25 team -- a four point win over Syracuse. That was a very favorable schedule in hindsight, and arguably in foresight, as well. Must be nice.

Clemson beat Texas A&M and Syracuse during the regular season and they both finished ranked.

Yea but that's not how that works. We did not finish 2nd in the SEC.

Disagree. That's part of the way it works. 125 voters in both polls think that LSU is the second best team in the SEC. They aren't all wrong.

Ala. has finished 2d in its own division, didn’t play in the conference championship game-, and got a pass to the playoffs, twice. Haw does that square with your sense of “how things work”?

Season was better than expectations and that equals success

Why were the expectations low? I figured Ed should have no issues getting to 9 regular season wins with the talent left to him on the roster and coaching staff. He just needed to continue to recruit and fix the offense.

Because he didn't fix it yet with the debacle of the Canada hire, LSU actually lost more games than it should have. And that got the last coach fired.

It was a good season regardless of expectations. Finishing the season at #6 in the nation marks one of better seasons over the last 10 or so years. Shows the program is back on the right track.
