I think they put us up as high as they can to say thanks for making UCF to STFU.

Nothing could be further from the truth. UCF sported a 25 game win streak and were the self proclaimed #1 team.

The only thing I regret was the final score. LSU with a shakey 8 point win was inexcusable. It should have been a blowout given the Tigers' statistical domination.

FIRST YOU QUOTE THIS:
quote:

The UCF game was much bigger than people think. Had UCF won LSU would have finished outside the top 15, around 17 or so. 11 spots in the final ranking is very significant.

THEN YOU WRITE THIS:
quote:

UCF was a meaningless scrimmage.

do you not understand what you just quoted and even put in your reply?
The UFC game was probably the difference between a #17 finish and a #6 finish? What is it that you do not understand? Tell me you are just trying to be stupid or is it sarcasm?

Moral victory by putting weight in final AP ranking now?

This season was a success. The team won ten games including a NY6 bowl. One only need look at our EOY rankings the past seven years to see this year was different. We were in a position to win two out of the three games we lost. This is college football, it happens. If this year wasn't successful then please let me know what your benchmark is so maybe I can start looking at things a bit differently. Also, if there is a season in six years prior you'd swap for this one, please elaborate. There is room for improvement, but let's give our coaching staff and players credit. It was a heck of a season. I get the logic that we didn't win the division, conference, and make it to the playoff, but neither did a number other teams equally as good as LSU. I'm amazed at how many of our fans diss our coaches and players and still talk noise about losses. If the group is as inept as it would appear in the forums why would you have expectations greater than a ten win season? With that said, I've booked accommodations for Austin and the only place I see these boys going is onward and upward.

Final ranking isn't a legitimate indication how your team performed that season?

it used to be, but now we separate the top 4 teams and shite on the rest of the bowls.

It's rather subjective. FPI actually has us at 17. I mean, Ohio State looked like crap all season and they are #3 after barely beating Washington?

This is the indication of how the season went:

We had the same regular season record (3 losses) that we had in 2015, 2017 and 2018. We improved by 1 in overall wins by beating a group of 5 team in our bowl. Our offense regressed statistically and we finished third in our own division.

We are ranked #6 because teams on our schedule were supposed to be much better than quite a few of them ended up being but the voters don't consider that.

The season wasn't a failure, but it's a stepping stone for next season. You can't call it a success because it's basically the floor and next season needs to be better, on the field, regardless of what the pollsters rank us after bowl game reactions.

The offense was mediocre, BUT, it is certainly trending up.
