That list of programs "value" is meaningless. The bigger number is program liquidity and the EatmE's have us and almost everyone beat in spades. They can spend that yearly and it won't knock a drop of snot off their kids noses. They get 2-3 classes like the one they just landed and the tables turn. Don't be so foolish to think it wont. NIL is a monster game changer.

100% not shocked at all. This reminds me of the year Ole miss finished in top 5 in recruiting from out of no where. This reminds me of the exact same thing. Love how all the A&M guys on here act like they just got all these top guys to go to A&M based on their history. Hey can you blame them? they been waiting to use all that money to buy players and a championship for dam near a century. NOT one of the A&M Trolls that post on this board to deny this. Tells you all you need to know about this. Why have ace recruiters when money will win out 90% of the time. Looks like A&M finally will be.

When was the last time EatmE actually won anything? Seriously? Have they ever won a Natty? Conference championship? They're about to buy their first.

Yep, they'll piss it away on stupid shite. Oh, and they'll forget to set aside some (probably 40%) for taxes as they've never paid any...

There's got to be some way they're accounting for taxes.

But on a serious note I'm waiting on the Hogs to ramp up their NIL game simply because many of their donors just have more marketable products.
You mentioned WalMart, there's also Tyson Chicken and of course Jerry Jones.
There's actually a lot of marketable consumer products there. Much more than say a shipping magnate or oil production company.
Worth noting that the Hogs donations are usually 10 mil less than a TAMU or LSU.

Depends, most likely get 1099s.
Unless they are employees which is doubtful. IRS will be all over this shite...

If that’s true, isn’t that 100% illegal in the light of current NIL? I mean, isn’t it that explicitly written that you can’t pay for play at a certain school, that your payment plan cannot have any tie what do ever to school?

Yep.
A&M will get nailed at some point, if all this is true. Either they're tying up NIL monet by restricting it to be paid out only if that player attends A&M, and that's illegal, or they're throwing away money like drunken sailors and other teams will benefit in the portal.
And if these players aren't paying taxes, LOfrickINGL.
The NFL will create a minor league in about a month when they realize the best players coming out of NCAA football in 3 years will have tax evasion charges.

Just keep this in mind:
The average business clears a profit of less than 10%, usually more like 5%. That means they need 10 million in gross revenues just to "make" $500,000. Then, a lot of that goes to the shareholders and top management. Not that much left for the 4-5*s after all is said and done. This will be like all of the previous booster (under table) pay-outs, a lot to the upper-echelon studs, and little or nothing to the rest...

quote:correct. The NIL offering company can not tie it to the school, enrollment or otherwise.

However, the NIL offer could, for example, be staggered over years/months with an option to cancel. That way if the player transfers you just choose not to renew. It's a wink and a nod situation, but you just tie the cancellation to something other than that explicitly forbidden.
Most of these will have a "value" clause anyway which in many ways look like a morals clause. If the value of the NIL drops, the contract is canceled.
And let's be honest, the value of the NIL for each and every player is tied to the school. It isn't just the player all alone. What Arky booster wants to pay for the OT of Tulsa Cyclones? None. They will for a Razorback OT however. Would the same business pay Stingley if he had opted out to get ready for the NFL? Nope. Only because he was the best DB on LSU's roster was he valuable. These dollar amounts are simultaneously tied directly and indirectly to the school.
So no school, no value... and value clause kicks in and is cancelled. Just like if they got arrested for kicking puppies where the act dropped their value.

Completely understand, but what’s to say a Houston area booster puts in a value clause to aTm recruit who goes there 1 year, but then transfers to say Texas or houston or LSU, all of which have huge alumni bases and fan support in the area. Would make enforcing that value clause a little difficult no?
These next few years will be interesting.

A&M and their deep pockets are definitely a concern but I keep wondering one thing. We all know players have been getting paid this whole time so if that's the case then why hasn't A&M bought themselves a title yet? Were they getting outbid by bama and Ohio State?
Texas A&M has been recruiting at a high level for a long, long time but what do they have to show for it? A bunch of Cotton Bowls and that's about it. They have never been able to get over the hump and become the national powerhouse they think they are. Maybe they finally do something as a result of NIL or maybe they continue to be background noise.

But, if you wanted to use the value argument to cancel as the payer you get to define where the value lies or is generated. In your example you could simply say due to your targeted demographic, which is tied strictly to geography, the athlete must attend a school south of Kileen, west of the Sabine River, E of Hwy 77 and N of Hwy 290 to have a significant impact on the audience your advertisement is intended to reach. Sounds ridiculous right? Footprint matters. Ask the SEC commish if it matters during expansion. If it matters to the SEC, NFL, MLB (blackout rules!), and ESPN a local "advertiser" can certainly claim the same.

These next few years will be interesting.
- not only will you see some crazy clauses as above after some get burned you will also see...
- Money moving from booster foundations to NIL (less going to TAF, more to NIL deals)
- payment in "other consideration": cars, bitcoin, housing. For example, a local habitat for humanity wing wants Deculus to advertise for donations. They build him a house with those same donations. It'll have to be a big house with wheelchair doors for his massive frame.
- "add on" services. For example, Stingley already has/had a deal. Someone comes along and adds CPA, Tax, and a CFP as a separate deal. All along there was a sports agent behind it.

A&M shouldn't worry any LSU fan until they prove they can consistently win in the SECW. They have continually failed at doing that. They will be in a dogfight with LSU, Bama, AU, & Arkansas every year. Throw Ole Miss in there.
Their biggest benefit will be if the conference is split to pods post UT/OU addition.

LSU simply can't compete with this.
LSU isn’t broke. We are 11th on that list and some years lower then that. LSU fires Miles and writes a big check. Fires Orgeron and writes a big check. Don’t forget the staff’s buyouts. We hire a new coach to one of the largest contracts in college football. Doesn’t the TAF pick up this tab or am I wrong? Universities have been paying players since I was a kid in the 60’s. I’ve personally hired some parents of LSU players and let’s just say they were well compensated. I think what we have going on here is we fired our coach during the middle of the season. We got a new coach two weeks prior to early signing day. We naturally were negatively recruited against as we should have been. I think between now and next December LSU will sign a much better class as our coaches develop relationships with these recruits. The LSU athletic department, coaches, and boosters will figure this NIL thing out because we are far from broke. Like I noted above we’ve been paying these kids for decades. Winning and coaching stability also fixes a lot of problems. I live in Alabama. There are kids in this state playing high school football that would play ball in Tuscaloosa for damn near free because they love Bama that much and know they are going to be well coached and compete for NC’s. Kwon Alexander came to LSU because Bama did not offer and he and his entire family hated Auburn. Winning, player development, recruiting the right kids instead of punks is what I’m concerned about. Least of my worries is poor old broke LSU can’t afford to pay its players comparable to every other dirty program we’ve competed with for the last 80-90 years.

The business to be in is recruiting service. Companies like rivals are the ones getting these kids paid. Go out and see if you can get these kids exposed. Pump up their ranking and profit.
