Dude after today his OBP% is prob .470-.480 lol

And is coming off a year where he had a 430 obp, 1.000+ OPS

I kind of dig Mac in the leadoff spot

Ultra experienced. The obp has improved this year as well. Doesn’t strike out.

no such thing as a great bunt

A drag bunt, sac but, steals, singles, hit and runs, are all how TO PLAY BASEBALL the right way and far better than playing for the 3-rn HR and losing. Look at State what they did today and yesterday.

But y’all love striking out and losing.

Bingham was fading a bit at the plate right BEFORE this week but this week he's 6 for 16 with 2 home runs, 4 RBI, 3 SO and 3 free passes which is not a bad 4 game run. So he's heating up there.

It's hard to excuse how terrible he's been in the field recently but zona had him starting centerfield his last 2 years there so I gotta think he wasn't this bad there otherwise why keep him in CF. SO I'm hoping the lapses recently are just a little bit of short term yips and not more of what to expect.

This will be forgotten about very quickly. That pitcher made one of the best plays defensively from that position that I’ve seen in college in a long time. He belongs in the lineup and in left field just not center. Everyone here hates kilng and I get the gripe about his bat but his defense is needed there. He has the potential to be great at the plate but it hasn’t shown up yet. Doesn’t matter when he can hold down center. Bingham showed that tn of how valuable a great defensive centerfielder is

OBP%

Just last week you were using this metric to argue in support of Kling. Now here you are again using it for Bingham. Sadly you aren’t alone, and that speaks volumes to the intelligence of this board.

Wait, are you arguing against OBP?

There is not a more important metric to a hitter than his ability to get on base.

In baseball, you are given 27 outs. And a hitter’s job is to not be one of those 27 outs.

I’m saying that Klings was very misleading. There are many on this board using this metric though it was obvious that his OBP was pumped up in games against weak competition .

So are you seriously saying that Kling deserves to still be in the lineup just because of his OBP after what you’ve been seeing of him?

Hopefully, Frey will get one of those spots when well. He isn’t a natural outfielder but he is fast for his size and hits with a percentage.

Uhhhh, sounds like you are down on him to me.

You need to temper your expectations for the whole team until some chemistry comes together. TW is batting with less than half the protection around him that he had last year. Jones still cannot hit a curve ball but is looking a little better.

The top two returning RBI leaders in NCAA this season are #1 Tommy White and #2 Max Bingham... We are trying to replace 140 HRs from last season. This team will have to do it differently.

wRC+ is the most important metric but let’s keep it really simple since this is college baseball

And that type of data isn’t readily available like it is in professional baseball on fangraphs, baseball reference, etc

We lose more than we gain by benching Kling and putting Bingham in CF.

Bingham’s spot is LF and you have to hope Kling’s bat improves. But a Dylan Crews-Andrew Stevenson-type CF is the linchpin of our defense. Kling is that linchpin. You can’t put an iron glove like Bingham in CF.

Probably not time to pull the plug on him

If he gives you plus defense in centerfield with a strong on base, then he needs to play

Even if he does slug in the 300s

Bingham is a proven hitter and LSU is fortunate to have him. He will contribute throughout the season.

Kling, hmmm, I honestly don't know.

I agree, although it actually is available for college baseball

As bad as Kling is hitting lately, he’s makes plays in CF. I’d still fine with him working his way out of the slump 9th in the lineup

This. Kling will get out of his slump and start raking again. Imagine Bingham bobbles a few in CF when it really matters and we lose because of it. I'd rather have a center fielder that can go get it and is a sure glove, slump or not.
