It’s lacking character. The old Box had it. This one —- NO

That's exactly it - you can't recreate atmosphere. The old Box had it all: history (decades older than any other SEC stadium), ambience (rocking fans), and character (if the team was losing after the 7th inning stretch, you just knew that a freight train would be certain to pass right next to the stadium to wake the team and fans back up). The new Box has none of those features.

The worst thing about it Is that it was already obsolete before it was finished. People looked at Arkansas' new Baum and were like: "There's no way that the new Box will look even half as good as that stadium..."

An embarrassing stat concerning new baseball stadiums in the SEC - LSU is only middle-of-the-pack in its willingness to spend - despite having the best program in the entire country over the last 35 years, and the stadium still looks lesser than Arky's much cheaper field:
Mississippi State: $68 million
Florida: $65 million
LSU: $38 million
Alabama: $30 million
Ole Miss: $19 million
Arkansas: $9 million

Build a BBQ berm in the outfield
Chair backs everywhere else and put the first and third base line in the shade

The original plan that TAF approved was absolutely amazing. Covered seating around the entire ballpark. Price came in around $150 million. Then this erector set was approved for much less...

I’ve visited over 100 ballparks in my day, about 80% of which are college/MiLB. I’ll add my .02 based on my travels.

And before I start, the Box isn’t THAT bad. It’s still a top college facility.

1. Bleachers down the lines need to be chairbacks. The bigger issue is that most parks I visit have the bowl shaped to where chairs are all angled toward home plate if possible. The exterior structure of the New Box doesn’t allow for that, as simply replacing with chairbacks will still have you looking at CF if you are far down the line.

2. Bullpens need to go behind the OF wall. You can stack them, put one in right, one in left, no matter.

3. The best parks allow you to walk around the entire stadium while still seeing the game, minus the trek behind the batter’s eye.

4. If you attempt to do #3, then you are getting rid of the OF bleachers or creating a concourse in the middle. A party deck would be great in LF or RF, but allowing grills, tailgates, etc is a pipe dream, as LSU wouldn’t be able to squeeze concession $$$ from those folks.

Just curious to see rankings of all SEC ballparks top to bottom based on overall stadium, size, amenities, parking, etc. and see where the Box falls.

Again, all pretty easy fixes that could and should happen.

It’s cheap and needs to be razed and replaced with a stadium befitting the program’s reputation.

Your stats don’t prove your point.

Bring home plate back toward the screen, reconfigure the foul line stands in outfield, bring fences in and out bullpens beyond fences. Make it a hitters park by having less foul territory and perhaps make one or both of the foul lines 320-325 ft. Put chair backs in place of bleachers and add outfield seating some more contour like a berm or higher seats to close in the feeling of the place more

Yes, but that pushes the fans back at least 20 feet unless you put the pens under a concrete grandstand. They are also at least 75 feet long.
I think it’s a must to do this, but it’s going to take some planning.

Concessions suck, bleachers everywhere but the grandstands suck, the 10,000,000 ads around the stadium also suck

Food was much better this year, at least the items I tried. Having WAITR was a great improvement, even if you wanted to go pick it up yourself, it was much quicker than waiting in a concession line.
Grandstand concourse is great, with a breeze and plenty of space. They improved by adding more concourse TVs a couple years ago.
Sill need more restrooms on concourse. Allowing SRO tics to sit any vacate seat after the 3rd inning needs to stop. Had one guy that would come sit near me after 3rd that obviously had been outside the park brokering tickets since noon in the S LA heat and smelled like a Paris subway after 8 p.m.

I immediately thought about The Box when I made the trip over to Stillwater a few weeks back for our regional games. They have corrals, is what they call them. They start at the end of the right field line and wrap around to the batters eye. Similar to some comments I’ve seen from others in this thread about “boiling booths” or what not. The corrals at OSU are a large area that I believe can be bought per season and have storage, grills, drink bars/table tops, chairs, etc. basically a space to tailgate during the games.
