There seem to be some who really don’t like it. I like it but I am curious what the dislike is all about.

Most articles written about College Baseball Stadiums have Alex Box in the Top 5 in the Country. I linked a typical article.

What are your opinions good or bad?

I think the biggest thing is it just doesn't have the amenities that these new parks have. It got outdated pretty quickly, through no fault of LSU's. They just built it years before this big new park craze started.

Some smaller things that I do think could aesthetically help though, get rid of the bleachers down the line, fix the logos on the outfield walls, better batters eye, etc etc.

The grandstand is great. The problem is the cheap bleachers down the lines and in the outfield. Changing those to chairbacks and putting some sort of berm/party deck in the outfield to grill and drink would drastically improve the atmosphere. They've got to find a way to make it a more enjoyable experience for the fans.

Concessions suck, bleachers everywhere but the grandstands suck, the 10,000,000 ads around the stadium also suck

I guess putting seats with back would help?

Really?

It’s got it’s problems but all of them are from a fans perspective. The facilities for the athletes are up there with the best in the country.

I think a lot of issues with the new box is the nostalgia people have with the old box. People seem to forget the old box was a dump. I hate that they decided to make the new box just like the old one with newer amenities like suites. Wish they would have started from scratch and created a whole new ballpark.

Why, and what should they replace them with?

Because sitting on metal bleacher in 95 degree weather while baking in the sun isn't exactly comfortable. Replace them with chairbacks.

Really?

Yeah. Make them white. The ads on the outfield wall at Arkansas's stadium look much much better than ours.

It was outdated the day it was built and it was 100% LSUs fault. They cut massive corners in typical south LA fashion. USCe and Arky who finished their stadiums at the same time as us immediately blew ours out the water

I think it goes unnoticed but we actually already have some white logos, and look how much better they look:

ever been to a game at Dudy Noble or Baum Stadium? You will have your answer pretty quickly.

I don't think the Box is bad, there's not enough really nice baseball stadiums for it to ever drop out of a top 5ish conversation but it was supposed to be the "mecca" of college baseball per say and now it's just kind of meh in my opinion. There's things that would dramatically increase the fan experience and overall atmosphere like getting rid of the outfield bleachers and creating a berm where students can drink and grill out. I can't stand the bleachers down the line but that's just my opinion.

How are chairbacks more comfortable in the sun than bleachers? Bleachers provide better airflow around the body than chairbacks. Comfort may outweigh coolness, but the fans were certainly comfortable enough at the old Box.

For a culture as unique as Louisiana, it's the most bland, cookie-cutter stadium imaginable. From the design to the concessions and everything in between.

so the strategy is for fans to be comfortable enough? That's exactly when people start watching the games on TV and not in person.

This is overstated. I think the USCe stadium is pretty meh, I would take the Box over it. Baum opened in 96, and underwent three renovations by the time the Box opened. But even still, while I do like it aesthetically more than the Box, lacks the new age amenities that other stadiums have, just like the Box.

Wait this has got to be a joke right? You don't understand how chairback are better than bleachers?

Who fricking cares. Nobody wants the old Box that's why they built a new one. People were also comfortable enough riding in cars from the 70's, why would they try to improve them? See how dumb that sounds.

Here's the problem:
quote:

It got outdated

Ever since home improvement shows started showing up on cable TV, suddenly everybody has a queer eye.

It's a baseball park where people go to watch baseball games. If you want to do something besides watch a baseball game, don't go to the baseball park.

"Outdated" seriously?

That's so fricking gay.

I don't understand the hate either. I went to the series at Arkansas this year and I didn't think Baum-Walker was better. I think the grandstand area between 1st base and 3rd base is much better at the Box. Arkansas' is better further down the sides and around the outfield. Overall, I would say they are comparable. Personally, I think the grandstand area close to the infield is the most important area and I think the Box excels there. I've been to Ole Miss-- it doesn't compare with Alex Box. I've been to Texas-- same. I've been to Texas A&M-- same. I haven't been to the new Dudy Noble yet but even if we go under the assumption that it's superior, Alex Box is still 2nd or tied for 2nd.

I think the bleachers should be converted to chairbacks all the way to the foul poles on both sides and the stupid seating areas on the concourse need to be eliminated and go back to standing room areas up to the railing like was intended for the stadium. I'm not sure what can be done with the outfield due to space restrictions. Left field probably is what it is. Right field could probably be done better for sure. Arkansas really excels there. LSU could do something similar by expanding the practice facility, connecting it with the seating, add a new premium seating area, add a different type of general admission area, possibly even extend the suites on the right side all the way down allowing access all the way down on that level, creating a better pathway for the team from the practice facility to the locker room/dugout, probably even create a better family/play area for kids...

LSU chose to use the same bleachers from the old box because they were cheap as frick and claim it was to keep the history

Lsu chose to put the bullpen on the foul lines because they are cheap as frick and then claim it was for tradition

LSU chose the cheap as frick batters eye and nothing behind the fences because they are cheap as frick

All of those issues are lsus fault
