The berm isn't designed to be sitting on the grass. It's designed to have 5,000 rowdy students standing and partying in the outfield and you can bring lawn chairs etc. a berm is probably a bad way to describe it, more of a grass area that's flat

Wait this has got to be a joke right? You don't understand how chairback are better than bleachers?

I was making two points:

95 degree heat is not the reason to get rid of bleachers.

Fans will come watch good, winning baseball against good opponents whether they sit in bleachers or chairbacks. LSU has not been providing championship caliber baseball and high quality opponents and that is the new Box is not electric.

Do they watch the game? I assume they do.
So they would have to be elevated so that they can see the field.

That would be great if you had a situation like Ole Miss where the stadium is built on the side of a hill, but we don’t have that. Our land is flat.

I would rather have just kept old alex box. I dont need amenities. I want history and atmosphere. Old box had it. Concessions and seats dont really matter to me.

This

ETA: Can you imagine the atmosphere at the old Box had they been selling beer back then?

People would pack the old bleachers down the left field and right field lines as well as the outfield back in the day. It was electric because of the excitement generated by the teams we had, the teams we played and it fed on itself.

That was before TV did every game. That was when we were starving for a winner. That was despite a 60 year old stadium.

I think it goes unnoticed but we actually already have some white logos, and look how much better they look:

kinda negates the point....

But I agree....the Box could easily be fixed up a tad on the cheap without breaking the bank on a makeover.

1)Price gouging beer - will never happen
2)Chairbacks all the way around - EASY FIX
3)New batters eye with camera booth built in - meh
4)Bullpens behind fence in left and right center - EASY FIX
5)Berm/party deck with beer booths exc beyond the bullpens - would be nice, but I'm not sure the students would show up.

I’ve been shitting on the bleachers since Skippy slipped those in and told it was because they were lucky. They’ve got to Fukin go. Tear out the right field bleachers and build a multi tier party structure. Everything else is fine.

Put the Intimidator just above the outfield fence like at the old box. But I’d have to be in right center instead of down the line.
Replace the batters eye with a berm.

Yes I meant elevated but flat and not like an actual grass hill where you can sit, if that makes sense.

Granted the stadium is now 12 years old which isn't that old but in modern technologies it is.

After watching the Regionals and Supers, there are a lot of stadiums with better set ups. I like having the hill in the outfield where people can just filter into. The New Alex Box seems kind of stale.

I want to bitch slap whoever thought the bleachers was a good idea. Holy shite I wonder if the architect ever even sat a day in Louisiana heat.

Original design had chairback seats throughout. If memory is correct, steel costs spiked at the start of construction and cuts had to be made to stay within budget. Chairbacks were replaced with bleachers.

I just don't really care for the building materials per say. I like the look of a lot of exposed brick that some of these newer parks have.

Also, I would say expand the suites all the way out, but every game I go to, they're mostly empty.

This article is from 2yrs ago lots of SEC Stadiums have had upgrades, LSU needs to seriously consider upgrading Alex Box, somehow need to get students more involved in the game!

I totally agree, get rid of bleachers all chairs with backs, get rid of outfield bleachers and have some type of berm with seating and place to grill and have bullpens moved under outfield berm

No matter how much LSU does for the fan experience, it's always gonna suck when the old folks don't show up and the grand stands are empty.

Yeah man, it makes it hard to pick up the curveball from the stands.

Take advantage of what South La is best at.

Cooking & Drinking

Make the outfield areas a place to do both and it will immediately inject life into Alex Box.

Agreed. It would be awesome to get out there a few hrs early on a cool afternoon and fire up the jambalaya pot and have some beers. It just blows my mind how bad concessions are at all LSU venues.

I totally agree with you, but those ads aren't going anywhere. We are in the age of NIL. It will only get worse. Look for ads on uniforms, hats, etc. Been going on in other sports for years.
