Our d was great in the end and won us a sec championship peach bowl and national championship.. Others could have done the same though

Stats are for losers. The D was a monster when it mattered down the stretch.

It’s also very, very hard to keep other teams from scoring when our offense is in the field for a total of 99 seconds a possession

This I agree with. But there were times when we were just flat out lost out there

How do we look statistically after the Ole Miss game? Nationally ? I’m not condoning the fact that our defense had a hard time getting fired up after we were leading by four touchdowns at the half but once they got called out they showed up and tore it up.

The D was fine. DA was taking advantage of our offense midseason to set up our post-season defense.
Ask Trevor Lawerence about the LSU D.

OTOH, one could make the argument that under Aranda, LSU D's underperformed talent.

Delpit's injury in camp hurt us. Mo Hampton came on middle of the season and we got better.
That win @ Texas also cost us in a number of injuries.
it took until later in the season for us to get back to full strength.

Held A&M, UGA, Oklahoma, & Clemson to their lowest point totals of the season.

But please, keep telling us how average they are because they gave up a bunch of garbage yards to ole miss and vanderbilt.

Let's be honest we were just average. With a lot of miscues. And probably 7 players on that defense that will play in the NFL

Im happy for Aranda and knew this was coming eventually..we all knew... today was the day...best of luck to him...I’m ready for the next guy to step up...there’s a lot of up and coming young coaches who are looking for a chance just like Aranda did... every yr Saban brings in new coaches on his staff...he hasn’t flinched...LSU won’t either....I’m ready...

Realistically it was more like 7th in the SEC. It was 20th nationally in SP+. Which is better than average. But I guess average for SEC, but I think it is kinda misleading due to style of play

The fact is almost every defensive coordinator in the top of the SEC could have replicated his results with the talent we had out there. He was good but replaceable IMO.

Aranda helped LSU’s team to do what it had to do to win the NC.

Aranda got worse each season despite the talent getting better. I would have given him a pass this year because of how fast our offense was scorning.

To me he is just a “good” DC, not elite as ppl like to claim.

W/O the offense bailing out the defense, we would have loss more games. Still sad to see him leave because who knows what’s coming.
