Many rednecks can now afford to buy a flat screen and stay home to watch the game rather than spend money to go to an LSU game. Push out the poor with higher prices, parking, etc and you get a "little" bit more classy fans from Baton Rouge. Not much but a little. Baton Rouge doesn't really offer much entertainment which is why 92,600 fans continue to pay to see LSU play. It's a big party in BR on Saturday. Where else can you go and have more fun than tailgating at LSU?

My seats are in the North EZ. I can tell you exactly why the stadium looked like crap at kickoff, because 25,000 people were trying to buy water. It's crazy how long it takes to buy water or take a piss. Why would anybody want to miss half a quarter to wait in line for water. During day games LSU should have vendors walking up and down the aisles selling water. We left at halftime for that reason and that reason only it was hot as frick and in order to get water you had to miss a shite ton of the game. frick that.

Been trying to deny it, but finally came to terms with it yesterday that the game day atmosphere here has really just fallen tremendously.

I like piped in music every now and then - Hells Bells, Thunderstruck every now and again - but not the techno and 7 nations army etc..

Neck and tiger rag and oweo NEED to come back. Students are gonna find ways to incorporate cursing into every song eventually so just deal with it. Nothing worse than scoring a TD and hearing the band play Stand up and Get Crunk or just sit around and not play anything; and the extended alma mater in place of tiger rag during preface puts the fans to sleep.

The Mike roar video before opening kickoff and second half kickoff needs to come back.

The intro video is lame as hell.

The sound system sucks arse.

The INSANE amount of advertisements is absolutely uncalled for. You don't see that at any other fields. I can't even find the score on the scoreboard anymore.

All the "cute" boat races, cheesy videos, fan photos, #hashtag crap on the video board needs to go.

Band has got to play more and play traditional songs. They also need to move back to the old corner section they were in.

Terrible.

5. Then there is the game itself. Piped in music ruins the atmosphere. Can't play Neck or Tiger Rag but we can play fricking techno or rap. More traditions destroyed. Yes, the students got out of hand on those two songs but come on, where I sat I never heard the cursing. Speaking of band...

fwiw people had been yelling a-hole for a long time and not just in the student section. i heard growing up in the 90s going to games

That's just the issue. My wife and I have been attending LSU games for over 40 years ( me for over 50 ). After parking screwups, incomvenient tailgating, band, and more than anything, pathetic schedules we just said this isn't as much fun anymore. We have a 2 game home schedule this year, Fla and A&M, which I admit is as many as bama plays, and a lot of pretend games against Towson and East Bumfrick. Nothing like the schedules that Cholly Mac played, against Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Southern Cal, Colorado,Fla State, Miami, and all the SEC teams. A 7-4 season in the 70's or 80's was a lot more respectable and entertaining than a 10-2 schedule now. The long and short of it is that the rabid fan base has become a customer base.
So my 2 bits worth is add scheduling to OP's original list of buzzkills. I'll spend my Saturday mornings fishing and then watch the game on the tube.

Techno being played over the loudspeakers, students throwing up gang signs and beach balls

Huge portions of the Stadium empty

Band doesn't play half as much as it used to, despite being one of the best in the country

Don't you love the new tiger stadium experience?

Went to the UGA game 2 weeks ago, counted about 7 or 8 noticeable advertisements in the entire bowl of the stadium, scoreboard included. Tiger stadium? Probably close to 50.

Another note, during tv timeouts, they showed video of other games going on. Instead, at Tiger Stadium, we get the "which crawfish has the corn behind his back"

Its a new breed of fan that is MORE interesting in tailgating then they are in the game itself. They drink all day and literally cannot sit in the stadium for 3 hours because they are itching to return to their tailgate to drink more. We need a shift in the culture, people encouraging each other to start staying longer at the games. It will take time, but it can sway back the other way.

Yep.

Quite different now from that post-Katrina Tennessee game when the guy held up the sign:

"I lost my home, but I still have my Tigers."

There are more commercials in tiger stadium than there are on tv.

The person in charge of this brilliant strategy needs to go back to sorting jockstraps by size and smell.

When you have an exclusive product you don't sell more ads for less, you sell fewer ads for more. This isn't small-market radio, this is a Top Ten college football program.
Get people in there that know selling, not some numbnuts that only knows how to call prospects and take orders.

Everything you said in the OP was spot on. I still fight all this bull shite and go to almost every home game and I am not a season ticket holder.

I unfortunately left the game early yesterday for the first time ever. I scored some tickets in the east upper and the sun was fricking brutal. I left at half time and went to walk ons to watch in the AC. I wish we could demand night games

We get it, you are the contrarian of this thread.

Somebody could say, "man it was hot yesterday," and your response would be "I was completely comfortable and didn't break a sweat".

I don't know how many can say they love LSU football yet they can't stand to be inconvenienced by it 3 or 4 days out of the year. Nobody really cares if you miss the game against Furman or UAB. Just show up for the big SEC games.

If you're a fan I think it should be easy even if you can't get the scores of other games or it's hot or the concession stand only has gruel that cost $10 or it takes a long time to get to the game or it takes a long time to get away from the game or you don't like the music or any other reasons.

Verne made the comment in the 4th quarter that there were thousands of empty seats all game long. Danielson said its a problem all across college football and attendance levels are just down. There's an upper section of the student section that hasn't filled up in 2 years for any game. Looks like shite on TV.
