This is late to the party, but could someone give me the rundown of what Will Wade did?

Before you bash me. I am limited like everyone on time in life. I never dug into the story. I know he basically was paying players, but who doesn't do that? Give me specifics if you don't mind.

We fired our coach for something that every successful college basketball coach does. Ours was just a little stupid about it but at a place like LSU(for basketball) you probably have to get a little ballsy. There’s multiple coaches today that have been proven to do worse than Will Wade that are still head coaches today for those schools. Sickening. The NCAA and every media source was on a mission to make Will Wade and LSU pay. They won. We lost.

The fbi was wiring tapping “handlers” for fraud and will Wade was found to be on the other end of it for several players.
On the lsu front, when they wanted to meet with him, he wouldn’t. That’s when he was suspended before the ncaa tournament.
He had terrible legal advice and subsequently fired his representative thereafter.
Was finally reinstated at lsu but when the ncaa dropped sanctions he was fired

He didn’t do much that other coaches aren’t doing. He was just dumb enough to leave a huge paper trail.

He got recruits he wasn't supposed to get, then got swept up in a wiretap associated with a stupid and wasteful FBI investigation that had nothing to do with him. This was used as ammo for blue blood bball programs to use their water carriers in the media to push on LSU to fire Wade until they couldn't take it anymore.
To this day there are STILL zero sanctions involving Wade and LSU. Maybe some day there will be, but judging from the way the NCAA has handled similar recent cases, nothing of significance will happen.

Technically the IARP dropped "allegations". Not sanctions. Sanctions are the penalties. The sanctions have yet to be determined or rendered

He was hired by the previous Athletic Director. Scott wanted his Man/Woman Coach.

Nothing concrete was released by the NCAA to my knowledge. I believe most of the information we have was "leaks".
First was the "Strong arse offer" which was recorded by the FBI who were looking into Christian Dawkins with the Adidas bribery probe.
Of course this comes out right before the NCAA tournament where LSU had a legitimate shot to make a deep run. Wade is suspended and then reinstated in the offseason after no concrete evidence could be brought up at the time. His new contract allows LSU to fire him for cause if any Level I or II violations were found. Meanwhile, tpos sports writers were slandering Wade as being everything that is wrong with NCAA basketball and the dirtiest coach in the country.
Fast forward to 2022 right before the NCAA tournament. NCAA officially serves LSU the allegations and Will Wade is fired on the spot the day after the SEC Tournament.
Most damning item in the report is Wade paying hush money to a recruit's girlfriend who then basically blackmailed him for more money which he paid from a personal account.
