These AP rankings are such a joke.

It's an aggregate of a bunch of voters. They are what they are. Sure, there are people making dumb voting decisions, but it's not like there's one person out there in control of the whole poll making things certain ways for certain reasons. Polls are nothing more than fodder for storylines.

Just win. We beat Auburn and hold down home field against Bama and Texas the game at Tenner will likely be a top 10ish matchup with basically win and in the playoff

What's the gripe? I'm not saying I disagree, because I haven't really studied it, but just wondering.

There’s nothing funny about an AP ranking. But that’s just me.

Why? Because they don’t agree with what you think?

I do think it's wild we dropped 12 spots after a 1 point road loss to Kentucky yet Alabama has had b2b losses and has dropped 6 spots total

That’s why nobody cares and they’re irrelevant since 2000.

We’ve lost two games to slightly above average teams. We are what we are.

Our signature win is against a QB’less State team. Dirty gumps and Texas should be ahead of us. Suck it if you disagree

my biggest one is ND has played 5 cupcakes and 1 real game which they lost and are ranked #4 in the country. They have done nothing to earn that ranking other than lose the only game they have played.

They are rewarded so heavily for playing a bunch of nobodies. I'd guess just about the entire top 25 would be 6-1 or better if they played their schedule.

Lucky for us we already have 2 losses. So we don't even have to play the game of where do we go if this or that happens.

We just have to win out. Makes it easy on us.

It’s not that wild. At the time, LSU had lost to an unranked team, so it tracks that they dropped more. Also, as the season goes on, the drops are less dramatic because more teams have more losses. Alabama losing this week makes the drop less dramatic because a bunch of other highly ranked teams also lost, so they had to drop as well. Despite LSU having dropped 12 spots, they were still the highest ranked 2 loss team.

I think you can argue everything, but ND at 4.

ND at 4 is unreal given they lose to the only good teams they play.

I hear you except Notre Dame does not belong in the top 5. They play too weak of a schedule to be able to lose and only drop a spot or so. I don't care how good BYU is. They don't play anyone.

They should have at least moved to 8-10.

LSU is #7 nationally in total offense (1st in SEC).
#1 Miami is the only Top25 team ranked higher.
#2 BYU is 49th. #4 ND is 35th.

Now time will tell, but Bama being several spots ahead as a 2-loss, seems out of kilter. Regardless, we get a H2H with Bama.
Bottomline, LSU 100% controls its own destiny.
It's a tough road, but doable.

LSU has the 3rd hardest schedule in the country from here on out.
If we win out, we'll be hosting in the playoffs.

Imagine caring what journalism school dweebs (the 90% of voters who are beat writers or regional media) who have neither the time to watch games nor the understanding of what they’re watching

The poll goes away entirely if people stop caring about it

Other than making matchups look interesting for TV viewership, they don't matter. The only ranking that matters is the CFP ranking at the end of the regular season.
