re: These 9-3 cotton bowl predictions are ridiculous!

I would be disappointed with 9-3. As pointed out before, 9-3 means we essentially go 1-3 in the 4 "tough" games. Forgive me if I don't want to see LSU go down the road of becoming a "moral victory" or "next year" program like Arkansas or Ole Miss.
Stop and think about the overall program- we go 9-3 this year, that means we lose 8 SEC games in 2 seasons. I think that's pretty mediocre, and I'd like to hear some justification as to why we should be losing that many games at this point in the program's history, given where the program has been this decade.
So we're a young team for two years? It's all Perilloux's fault? The SEC is tough, I hear that a lot. Breaking in a new DC? We were supposed to be breaking in one last season, not an excuse for losing this year. We've heard a lot about attrition from the 2006 and 2007 classes.
Why is it that in years 4 and 5 of the Meyer era the Florida program is hitting on all cylinders, dominating the rest of the league, where in years 4 and 5 of our coaching staff we're looking at the possibility of a two year record of .500 in the SEC, and we cite the "toughness and parity" of the SEC. Sorry if I don't accept that 9-3 is a good record following an 8-5 season, as most people do.
I honestly believe that this team should limit itself to 2 regular season losses with the talent on the roster and experience of the coaches on this staff. I'd be disappointed with anything less.

a .500 SEC record is obviously unnacceptable during this period in LSU football.. but we aren't there yet.. We could have an EXCELLENT year this year.. You never know..
but Florida will always hold an advantage over LSU..
1. Because it's easier to recruit people to Florida than Baton Rouge..
2. They have a better talent pool than us.. And as of right now they don't have the in state pressure they used to with Miami and FSU being in a "down" state..
3. The SEC east has been down with UT and USC not really bringing to much to the table
4. I'm sure I'll get bombed for this.. but UM is a better coach than Miles.. I think Miles is great for LSU and I like him as a coach.. It's just that UM has taken three programs and done wonders with all of them.. His easiest job so far has been Florida.. No question..
Even with all that we compete well with Florida and are historically (and recently) very good against other SEC competition.. If this isn't LSU's year to stir things up.. It will be soon..
And if 9-3 is considered a dissapointment for a great deal of fans.. you have to love where our program is..

Not so much 9-3... it's 9-3 following an 8-5 season.

I don't think you can really analyze a possible record in advance...depending upon the circumstances 9-3 could be great, or terrible.

My sentiments exactly, Carlos. But there are a lot of football experts on here that cherish the thought of pointing out how the Tigers just don't have what it takes to be one of the best teams. 9-3 is just fine with them. That's a great accomplishment. We won both of our BCS championships in odd years. Next year is an even year. The schedule for next year dictates that we'll be successful? Why not this year....

If this team goes 9-3 the season will not be a success in my book. I am thinking 11-1 with 10-2 worst case scenario....we have too much experience, talent and coaching for 9-3.
It depends on how that 9-3 happens

if LSU wins less then 10 games then i would be shocked and well. If i was a grad, very pissed.

This pretty much sums up for me why it's painful to be an LSU fan these days. I live amongst idiots.

statement...man who wins a nc and has .792 winning percentage??
Tell that to Larry Coker. LINK
Coker won a NC against a weak schedule in a weak conference and a joke opponent in the NC game and his recruiting was crap.
Anyone attempting to compare Coker to LM is a complete idiot.

This team has huge question marks on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, and to expect at least a 9-3 season is ridiculous. How we lose, to me will be the key. Our 8-5 year was ugly, because 3 of those wins could heve been lossses, and some of the loses where embarrassing. I don't want to think about the Florida game ever. Ever again.

well, we are breaking in a new DC, though i don't see many thinking that will be a weakness. its a wait and see thing, but most are optimistic.

if we had florida's SEC schedule this year i would agree.
i am not saying i expect to lose 3 SEC games. i think we will do better than that. but if we were to lose 3, i will not be running around screaming its the end of the world.

9-3 would be great, but I could see 8-4 as a distinct possibility.

There is no next year.
There is never a next year.
This year is all we have.
I've said over and over again that coaches who build for next year are often not around to experience it.
Moving on,
8-4 would be a very dissappointing record. It would mean that once again we lost to all the good teams on our schedule.
9-3 would be okay. Not a successful season, but not a disaster, either. Also, if 9-3 means we're in the Cotton Bowl with a chance to finish 10-3 that's good.
10-2 would be a good year
11-1 would be a great year
12-0 would be incredible.
But for me, I see 9-3 as a WORST CASE.
We're gonna be really good and I mean it.

Wake up Roofdog. I'd take 9-3 right now! We may go 8-4 this year. 10-2 would be a great year and 11-1 is a dream that will not become reality. Better prepare yourself.

I see the tigers going 8-4 to 12-0 depending on how the ball rolls.
I see Yall keep counting Arky as a W, how has that worked out the past cpl years?

You're positive attitude will see the team through to an undefeated season!!!!!!!!!!
For the real amateurs out there:
Expectations and attitudes of fans have little effect on how a football team plays-in spite of Nick Saban's thoughts on the matter.
