re: The worst thing the LSU Ath Dept has ever done...

As for closing the lots, I know LSU has always closed S Stadium a certain amount of hours before kickoff, and I think it was always closed at Highland. The only way you could get through was/is with a reserved pass.
Could the closure have been because it had reached that certain time before kickoff...and not because they thought they had sold enough permits?

Just don't use the pay lots, no matter who we are playing. Surely somebody in upper academia will figure it out that 40.00 is just to much. We tailgate in a "free zone" and have for 10 years. We make sure that we never leave one bit of trash on the grounds.

Even at Jerry World I paid $30 and was not far from the stadium...this $40 price point PLUS $50 for a trailer is just insane
I parked for free at jerry world. Golf cart drove me to where my friends rv was.

My in-laws showed up an hour before kickoff last year for one of the games and parked in the Chancellor's lot at the corner of Tower and Dalrymple without a parking pass.

I'm just trying to figure out the exact point that LSU became a private university.....

This plan has killed tailgating on the interior of campus. There have been three games per year the entire campus was packed: the first game, the first SEC game, and the marquis SEC game (Auburn, Fla, Bama). This year the first game was a ghost town. At 5pm there were twice as many empty spots in our lot as there were cars, and four of the cars were Facility Services vans.
We must park in the same lot. You park across from Francioni (sp?) Hall?

All of this could go away if LSU starts performing like they did back in the Hallman days..... Otherwise, just pay it.

I don't know which short sighted, LSU spirit hating money grubbing bureaucrat thought it was a good idea to charge $40)!!!!!) per vehicle PLUS $50 (!?!?!?!) per trailer to get to non-prime spots on campus,

They have prisoners that get out there to pick up trash after a game starting between 12-1:00 am. I don't think they're paying them by the pound.
The way to fix this, is to start ticketing for trash

I haven't parked over that way in over 10 years so I have no reason to doubt you, but I was talking specifically about S Stadium.
ETA: S Stadium is closed at Forestry Lane when I get there early in the morning, and that block is moved back toward, or to, Highland later in the day.

If everyone who is truly pissed about the $40.00 per vehicle fee would spend $10.00 less per person on concessions at the game, that would send a big message.
50,000 pissed fans x $10.00 = $500,000 per game
Tell L.S.U. that you only have so much to spend, and if they want it before you get in the stadium, then they won't see it once you get in.

They support the cause $10-20 a game a person.
For some, that might be $60 now.
This.
Our tailgate was 350 per couple per year with about 20 members. We had already figured in the cost of the extra $540 for the group to get the funwagon down there and parked close by when we realized that due to out-of-towners that come in for the game and the in-towners' work schedules that no one would be out there late Friday/Very Early Saturday to get the pass. At that point, for a game like Florida/Alabama, there is no guarantee that we'd be able to park in the pay lots and without parking in the pay lots, our tailgate wasn't feasible, as we'd tried without success for some time to get passes in a season lot near our location.
On top of that, we had members who are older or who are injured and can't physically walk from the free lots to our tailgate location/stadium. Many of these members are from out of town and they were suddenly staring down a minimum of $240 a year for parking on top of the tailgate dues and had zero guarantee that after they'd made the trip to BR on Saturday that they'd even be able to find a place that allowed them access to the stadium/tailgate.
So, we disbanded. There are a good number of us who will get together at a house party and watch games, a few of us who will take it from LSU and trudge down to the stadium and pay them every week to sit in the stadium, and a whole bunch of out-of-towners who will not even come to Baton Rouge because there's no guarantee they'll get a close spot.
So, an average of 30 people on campus every game, 25 or so who would go into the game got whittled down to about 5 to 7 who'll be in the stadium every week.
It's not a matter of want or don't want or being a bigger diehard fan dick waving here. It's a matter of a fundamentally broken system that makes people who are true LSU fans and who would tailgate AND go into the stadium decide that staying home is the best option.

I'm going with hiring Trent Johnson.

Again, most aren't ticked about paying, they are ticked about the cost.
So what is the "right" cost?

Judging by the lots that were 25% full near us...
$20/game per car or trailer.
Posted on 9/12/11 at 1:46 pm to tritiger
We lost 40% of the groups directly adjacent to us. The majority of the rest simply parked on Chimes, Kirby Smith, or behind the Law School and walked the block and a Half to the Indan Mounds, Quad, or Parade Grounds as the case may be. The folks that are out luck are those that expect to get to campus at noon and be able to park in Kirby Smith at all or in the first 3/4's of the Hay field. The parking lot at Thomas Boyd Hall had 20 cars parked in it when they shut down the pay parking at 3:00. Anyone that is serious about getting out there and having a good time get there at six and you wont have anything to worry about.

It's not the AD, it's the parking and security department, and if you've had to deal with them enough you would realize that they have their fair share of idiots.

So you are saying people wouldn't be incensed if the price was just $20?
