Coaching Changes Board Thread from 10/2016

I posted this in another thread... some real gems in here. But there was also a lot of support for O.

I was all up in that thread

I was ok with the hire. Surely didnt want Jimbo, who I thought was very mediocre hire. And Herman was unproven in my eyes, and more of an underdog type coach. I liked what I saw when Orgeron was interim. Did I know he would be a great hire? No, but I was OK with the hire...plain and simple. Was a fresh change.

The only thing that “bothers” me is I seem to remember reading here that he had a part in putting Miles down as far as the job he was doing or stirring the pot about the job he was doing.

Tried searching to see if I could find it but got nothing.

Let’s not start this revisionist history thing where most people act like they thought LSU had the hire right the whole time and want credit for supporting him since day one. Because there are very, very few of those people.
I don't see that, at all. What I've noticed on this board are people deliriously happy about the season LSU is having, and many people have come forward to say they are happy they were wrong about Orgeron. What I've also seen are numerous threads, similar to this one, where posters are calling out the people who were unhappy with Orgeron's hiring -- numerous threads.

The problem with Orgeron's hiring was the way it was handled. LSU botched the firing of Miles so badly that it was a public relations nightmare. Then, Alleva's "I am the search" process turned out to be no process at all. If Alleva had really known what a great hire Orgeron would turn out to be he wouldn't have gone after Herman first. If Texas hadn't been looking for a new coach at the same time as LSU then we would have the kissing bandit as our coach, and Alleva to thank for it.

Bottom line -- nobody, not even Alleva, knew how successful Orgeron would be.

Most people were wrong. Some of us were so fed up with the “good guy” Les mirage that actually masked where we really were as a program. LSU needed a change, no matter where it came from. Sure I wanted Jimbo and Herman, but once they were out I was in the minority that was all on board with O. He had changed the offense in his interim stint and he was never going to let recruiting be his downfall. Happy it’s worked the way it has!

Crow pie taste so damn good. I was one that hated the hire. Thought it was the worst thing that could happen. Even said LSU will be right back in the dark ages. But I have never been afraid to admit when I’m wrong. Didn’t think ED O could change bc most coaches have egos and can’t change. He did bc his heart was in the right place. Never been happier to say I was wrong on this.

I had no problem with O himself....I really did believe that he learned from his clusterfrick at Ole Miss.

I had a problem with "I am the search"

When I received the text that he was the next coach, I posted it in coaches change forum and said I was driving to Baton Rouge for the press conference.

I was banned for a few months for that post so I took it as whoever the admin was, he or she was against the hiring

I’m an admitted homer. I really don’t care who the coach is. I don’t pull for players and I don’t pull for coaches. I pull for the purple and gold. It’s not my job to second-guess the A.D. or the coaches decision it’s my job to get behind LSU.
I laugh at paper Tigers! I’ve been doing a lot of laughing lately.

The vast majority were willing to see what happens before condemning.

the popular opinion among MOST fans was “Oh my god what is Joe thinking, he just fricking destroyed this program. I hope we’re all wrong and this works out, but I’m pretty sure it won’t. Let’s start looking for the next candidate.“
Nope. And none of those people presented a viable alternative. They also said O was incapable of doing what he has already done. They also stated it in a way that reasonable minds could not differ.

Bull shite.

I'll admit. I was team Herman all the way.

And you know what, I'm not too big to admit it.... I still am.

I don’t know which is worse, all the people who hated the Orgeron hire or all the “I told you so” dickheads now..
