To show you how dumb the fans are of other teams in this conference, they think this is GREAT!

Of course they do. They’re too short-sighted because of their irrational hate of LK, thus LSU. Expelling LSU is essentially a permanent solution to a temporary problem. It’s honestly stunning that the SEC and member admins are even threatening something so far reaching for the supposed violations.

OM for one would LOVE not to have to face LK and LSU on the football field. They’re not as bad arse as they act, and they know it. So let’s boot LSU and destroy a decades-long relationship and historical rivalry. They’re screaming that LSU is “cheating”(!), LK tried to “burn down” OM on his way out the door, tampered, etc. They just want to avoid annual arse whippings on the football field at the hands of the coach that made them relevant for once. Spare me the moral and ethics bullshite.

The legal redress applies only the the US government. The constitution only applies to fedgov despite SCOTUS’s claims to the contrary.

Not exactly sure what that means, but thank you for it.

I'm not a lawyer nor am I thoroughly educated in the law, so I will definitely have to do some reading and learning.

JFC y’all

The JFC on your end should be the fact that sports are being used as a catalyst to fundamentally change the way our country and legal system works and dumbasses like you are laughing and cheering because it benefits your sports team. Enjoy the “win” if this does end up happening

The vaccine companies were granted legal immunity during Covid. The alternative was not putting it on the market for use, when it was promising. What is the tradeoff for giving the SEC immunity?

I'm glad you mentioned this. I had this exact thought. I also remember India being an issue during covid because the country would not grant legal immunity to the vaccine manufacturers.

The trade-off question is a great one. My immediate reaction is that it makes the SEC a dictator - an absolute authority that can do whatever it wants to any of its member institutions.

Please clarify because it’s the NCAA roles of which the SEC has to abide by

The NCAA can no longer enforce their own rules. They have been made a toothless organization due to their years of ineptitude and incompetence. Sankey and the rest of the SEC know this, and in turn they are attempting to show in courts that since they are a voluntary organization, they should be able able to enforce their own rules regardless of court cases against the NCAA.

To be clear, I don't see how what they are doing is legal. I also don't think the expulsion of LSU is really on the table. Its just the example they decided to use to see if they can get a federal court to allow them to supersede state law.

So Chambliss is ineligible?

SCOTUS through a repeated process of arrogation has given itself multiple powers nowhere found in Article III such as judicial review. It has also made up things like the “incorporation doctrine “ which claims that, via Amendment XIV, the bill of rights applies to the states which it never did. The constitution only governed what was supposed to be a weak central government with specific enumerated powers.

You should look into the real story of how the constitution was illegally ratified under the Articles of Confederation, what the Rhode Island plebiscite demonstrated and whether there is any contemporaneous documentation of a convention ever having taken place. For example, George Washington, who presided over said convention, made not a single entry in his journal during the convention.

Then look into the actual process whereby Amendment XIV was “ratified”, again illegal. Then examine how many times SCOTUS has reversed itself.

Of course they do. The conference, for lack of a better legal analogy is like a club. When you join you sign away a lot of your rights. Apparently, the SEC doesn't have anything current to that regard so they are asking the court to codify that before they do the unthinkably dirty deed.

Who knows what any judge will understand and offer a binding opinion of. LSU has to make the case compelling or we are out.

Is this also about Chambliss TRO from a Ms court to over ruled him being found ineligible by the SEC and also denied his appeal? Is this about his 6th year not fitting into the 5 for 5 rule?

So the issue with that is from Liz Merrill’s own stance on this lawsuit, that LSU is an arm of the State of Louisiana and states don’t have 1A rights.

Well yes, but no. Remember how we can’t sue Covid vaccine makers for issues arising from Covid vaccines?

Thank you. I'm learning as I go.

To the poster White Tiger, thank you for your second post. I copied and pasted it to my Notes app. I'm very interested to read about those events.
