10 wins
NY6 bowl win
Finished #6
Top-5 recruiting class

I TRASHED Ed Orgeron. He earned some respect from me. And he won doing it his way, despite how unorthodox or criticized it was. This wasn’t a good season when you compare it to preseason expectations. This was a good season by program standards.

Take a bow Ed O, you have earned it. Let’s take it to the next level next year, I’ve got a bag of crow I’m ready to chow down on.

We comin’

Anyone who doesn’t think this was a good season is retarded.

Also, don’t be shocked when LSU starts as high as #3 next season. We bring everyone back.

The season was very successful. At the same time there is a ton of room for improvement. A poster in another thread just pointed out that Coach O is now 4-8 against teams that finish the season ranked. So in his two seasons as HC he has losing records again teams that finish the season ranked. That must improve in a hurry if LSU wants to take the next step, and that all starts with the offense.

Coach O is going to be using the Clemson D line as a recruiting tactic on his juniors.

5-3 in the SEC (third in the West) is good?

Apparently it's possible to be 5-3 in the SEC, third in the West, and be the 6th best team in the country. Yes, that's good. Retard.

Yes it's good. No one's saying that it's great but it's very good. #6 in the nation is a successful season.

I think you have this backwards:

quote:

This wasn’t a good season when you compare it to preseason expectations

LSU entered the season with its lowest preseason ranking in years. They were an underdog in the opener and MANY felt 7 wins were the best reasonable scenario. By ALL measures this was a good season relative to preseason expectations, which were very low. LSU was picked to finish FIFTH in the West, only ahead of two dumpster fires in Ole Miss and Arkansas.

quote:

This was a good season by program standards.

Miles routinely put together 9-10 win seasons. Hell, in 2015, the year LSU tried to fire him, he would have gone 9-3 if the McNeese game weren't canceled. Win the bowl game and he has the EXACT same record as this season. Yet, that wasn't "good enough", which led to his firing the next season.

If it wasn't good enough in 2015, then why is it all of a sudden a "good season by program standards" in 2018?

If White, Fehoko, and Lawrence come back, we may have the best defense in college football and the best d-line in nearly a decade.

On offense, we would be losing one lineman but bringing in a bunch of big recruits with the other 4 lineman being seasoned with tons of game experience.

Burrow progressed massively as the season went along as did the receivers and CEH. With some big recruits coming in at RB, this looks like the most complete team LSU has fielded since 2011 with a way better QB to boot.

The only question mark I see is at kicker. Kick Tracy was nothing short of incredible, and we've got a tall order to replace that kind of production.

What do you think is more relevant: the opinion of some random rant poster or the opinion of the AP poll?

The point is, we don’t need that modifier. It was just a good season period.

10 regular season wins is the bar.

10-2 should be the floor.

And to be fair, we should've been 10-2 after A&M game. It was a pretty good season.

We need to stop getting embarrassed by Alabama though.
