The run defense this year has been phenomenal

Currently we’re no.1 in the country at rushing defense only giving up 47 rushing YPG. I remember in the offseason the interior d line was a question mark and so far they have held strong stonewalling the run game.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a LSU defense that can shut down physical rushing attacks. A&M bullied us on the ground the past 2 years it felt good to see the team match the physicality and suffocate their run game. Hopefully the run defense can hold strong without weeks I believe in keys and singleton to hold it down next to dottery.

The run d has been fantastic this year.
Last year it seemed if it was 3rd and 2 or 3 just run it on us and you had it.
Our defensive tackles have stepped up to stop that and allow our backers to fill in and clean up.

The 4th and 1 stop was a perfect example of that. Richard Anderson absolutely walked back the center and allowed our lbs to fly in and make a TFL. The run fitting and having 10 hats fly to the ball carrier has been excellent so far

Very very underrated strength of this team.
Run defense wins championships.
If other teams cannot establish the run their plans get upended and you force them to throw or scheme elsewhere.

Defense in general has been incredible.

I think Keyes and Singleton will be fine filling in for the run D part. It might be more of a challenge on the picking up a back coming out the backfield while Weeks is out.

I watched the replay of the game last night. It was very noticeable that when the ball is snapped, our DL fires off and get a great push into the backfield that disrupts the play. This was on every play.

Wonder in obvious passing downs if a guy like Jimcoily can play inside backer. Listed at 6’3 220.

The problem is Jimcoily looked horrendous in coverage vs ole miss. Now that was at star and ole miss is a much better offense than we will see pretty much all year.
He was a safety though before being moved to linebacker, and maybe playing in that spot would help his coverage.
The injuries suck, but we do have a lot of good really talented pieces. They will have to step up and be stretched a bit though

DTs have been outstanding. And I thought it was a concern coming into this year
Green threw the LG off him and sacked Marcel by himself. Geralds had 2 sacks and a FF (I know).
Blocton, Anderson, and Mckinley do their jobs well too.
