His footwork still is bad. Watch the 70 us pass to whoever...it was way underthrown. His footwork on the throw was crap.

Jennings passes float, wobble, and quack in the air.

Well both qbs' were. But, they both exploited the breakdowns.

I thought he looked pretty good. Got in a pretty nice rhythm for purple with diarse. He had several throwaways, so its not like his accuracy was that bad.

The second pass for the TD was horrible.

Here we go.

If our QBs can improve to the point where their throws keep the defenses honest, we'll be ok. As long as our play calling doesn't put them in bad situations like 3rd and 11, etc. and they can complete basic passes.

One thing for sure, jennings never has to worry about overthrowing those deep balls.

he overthrew a couple of long balls, the long throw to Dural was during a scramble, he saw Dural wide open and heaved it. There was nothing really out of the ordinary on that play.

Besides both QB's looking improved, two things really stuck out to me:

1. Harris made a few throws that Jennings just can't make. The TD to Dupre in the 1st half was a perfect pass that no one but Dupre could catch.

2. Harris has much better legs for scrambling.

Even on 3rd and 6, when the other team comes on the blitz (and they will), forget it. Queue up Keehn.

I think Harris was slightly better with the white team and AJ was actually a little better with the purple team. By better, I mean he hung in the pocket and made the throws. Harris had happy feet. For sure he is a better scrambler but he is impatient in the pocket and gives up on the play too soon. I'm sure this flaw, being a true freshman who didn't know the playbook and his only confessed not working hard enough are the bulk of the reasons why he wasn't the starter last year. He looks improved but still has a ways to go. Jennings looked very serviceable if you ask me.

Could one if the two just make it through the season with an average performance.

My god , is that too much to ask for... And being as it's come down to that at a school such as LSU is embarrassing.

I have been calling for a wishbone package for years. If we are going to ground and pound then get fricking creative about it.

Well 3rd and long is gonna happen and if we cannot pass the ball it will happen more often than we would like it to. They have to be able to make all the throws to be complete. You have to show you can throw the ball to keep defenses honest if not they will stack the box and we will be forced to pass against teams we cannot out talent

The purple team's secondary has a long ways to go

I've been as critical of Jennings as anyone else on this board. He did not have a bad scrimmage in any sense of the word. He has improved and his stats clearly show that. Yes I think Harris won the day and takes the 1st team O to an entirely different level, but I won't be as terrified if Jennings is in the game. I think Jennings could take us to a 2-3 loss season. Harris could do the same, but I think he is the only QB that can take us further. Bottom line, both QB's looked better which is better than them looking the same.

He has a slow release, and he cannot put enough velocity on the ball to throw over the middle. Nothing personal , just facts.

The reviews on Jennings's spring game performance didn't seem to be too bad...
but his performance in the first quarter of the Spring game shows me that he hasn't improved at all. They say his poise and footwork is better, but he's still missing receivers by 10 yds. He just doesn't have the talent to be very good. I see a lot of drives ending unnecessarily because he can't complete a 5-7 yd pass. I say let Diarse run the wishbone.

Not quite sure what you're talking about. He actually played well in the first quarter, and missed a few passes later. He still showed good improvement, and played well over all. That being said, Harris was more impressive with his throws. He put the ball in places where his guys was covered, but only his guy could get the ball. Harris appears to know the offense and checks, and seems calmer in the pocket. He bailed a lot with the second team offense, but the o line going against the 1st team D did him no favors. If he continues his improvement over the summer, and doesn't stop and think he's arrived, he can be the starting QB come fall.

The only thing Jennings has of Harris is poise, which accounted for him getting sacked 3 or 4 times.
