The return of Chaisson is a huge deal.

The more I rewatch, the more you notice our severe lack of pressure and the hole he left.

When he's in, you have a ton of options to attack a QB. You dont have to blitz near as much, and when you do.. they are getting to the QB.

I very much expect Ehlinger to be running for his life all night in week 2. Our history with running QBs is stellar. I'm not worried about our secondary in the slightest either.

If you force a QB out of the pocket, he will make a few big plays, but 7 times out of 10 itll be an incompletion/loss.

We can line up and go man to man with anyone . And that will allow the defense to attack the QB more.

Chaisson is the key and I think you will see a massive difference in our defensive play this year.

There's a reason he's ESPN 1st Team Pre-Season All American ; despite playing in only ONE game last year!

Stoked on the return of a healthy Chaisson

Honestly we need to keep him in the pocket. Our DBs should be able to lockdown Texas’s WR’s in man and our safety’s are ballhawks and it’s almost impossible to complete a big pass against them.

Look at past games on how we dominate running QBs and the key is to keep them in the pocket and contain what they’re good at. We have the athletes and physicality that I don’t think Texas will be ready for offensively. I am very confident in our defense being able to shut up all this Ehlinger talk!

We deserved to see more Chaisson and White playing at the same time.

Chaisson’s departure cost us two wins last year. No doubt in my mind.

So now espn has credibility? So we’re just picking and choosing when to cite espn and when to exclaim they don’t know anything? I’ll hang out and listen to my downvotes.

It's called agreeing and disagreeing. It happens all of the time in the real world.

When was the last time an LSU player had this much hype after one game...Cecil Collins?

Our history with running QBs was stellar under Chavis. Chavis used to play containment with his four or five rushers, and gradually collapse the pocket. Every linemen (and blitzer) had two gap responsibility. Fans whined that guys like Hunter weren’t maximized, but Chavis traded gaudy sack statistics for choking offenses to death.

We’ve lost that with Aranda. Felipe Franks gashed us a couple of critical times last year, and he’s not that much of a runner. Sure we contained Louisville and UCF, but those are glorified high schools compared to the SEC. Aranda overloads and tries to get to the QB. That’s a great strategy against good pocket passers like Tua and Fromm, but against Franks and Texas’ QB Chavis had the right idea - contain them, collapse the pocket, and let them make mistakes. Texas will be a good test of our run defense. We have the horses. It’s up to Aranda to at least break even in the chess match.

Hopefully with his return we will get that edge rush that was non- existent last year.

So when it’s positive we agree with espn and when it’s negative we disagree. Got it.

No one was expecting him to be a running threat last year, and Dan Mullen saved that for us.

Aranda spoke at length this offseason about the loss of Chaisson completely change the entire look of the defense. In hindsight, it’s pretty funny there were fans who actually believed that some combination of Andre Anthony and Ray Thornton would somehow make up for Chaisson.

It’s likely we will have the offensive player of the year in Burrow, Defensive in Chaisson and Frosh of the year in Stingley
