The ref blaming needs to stop

It's sad to witness. I remember being in my early 20s and doing this.
Somewhere along the way I realized two things:
If every team feels like they are being screwed by the refs, maybe it's perception more than reality.
There are certain things you cannot change.
It's pitiful to see ref blaming. Calls could have been better, but there is no grand conspiracy.
To be honest, if you leave Louisiana you'll see that nobody is out to get you. Most of the wounds are self inflicted. The same is the case in football games such as the one last night.
If you're upset with anyone, it should be Sam Leavitt and Blake Baker. Leavitt had two really bad turnovers. He stared down a receiver that was covered, threw it anyway, and on top of that threw a bad ball. The fumble the other way was also egregious. All he had to do was take a sack and we have a chance to keep the drive going.
The refs are not the issue. It's pathetic and lazy.

They were an issue, not the issue.
LSU playing poorly doesn’t mean the officials weren’t also poor.

And it’s nothing new. Terrible officiating in the sec is a tale as old as time and yet we’ve still managed to be successful.
Very hard to win when your giving your opponent multiple opportunities to get back in the game

Both of those are true but our poor execution cost us the game. Kentucky handed us that game TWICE in the final minutes and we shite the bed.

The refs clearly didn't help and UK would have been relegated to kicking the extra point if the clear false start was called in time. However, LSU had 20 opportunities to win that game and they simply didn't.

This is true, but you can't change this.
People have been bitching about officiating since the sport has begun. It's part of the game.
You can call out officiating all you want, but it's almost the most ineffective way to spend your time. If it's something you enjoy, so be it. But letting something that cannot be changed actually ruin your day when all the team had to do was execute better is sidelining blame.

It's sad to see someone with this perspective.
Genuinely. It's a victim mentality.
The refs weren't an issue in '19 were they? I wonder why.
Perhaps poor officiating is magnified when you play poorly.

No. They were aweful. Their RT held every pass play. None called. They cost us

No one is denying we, a as a team, lost that game. It is completely true that the officiating was terrible to the point it should be addressed. It wont be and excuses shouldn't be made for that crew

They gifted Kentucky 16 points in a 1-point game:
The play before half was a stop.
The punt return featured multiple illegal blocks.
The tight end clearly false-started before the timeout on the 2pt.

Apparently if I fall asleep on the turf, the offensive line can push me into the end zone and I score a touchdown. Life is good.

Bad calls happen to both teams, in every game, in every sport.

man, it was pretty blatant last night. I usually don't do it. Even in a loss. But last night actually had me pondering over my night cap bourbon and a cigar if college football has been compromised. The NFL has been compromised for decades. I don't even debate people anymore on that. I just ignore the conversation. It's not even a debate.
It wasn't just this game. Even Bama got absolutely fricked last night by officiating.
If the refs aren't the problem. Then allow coaches to be able to have 3 penalty challenges per half. Kind of like baseball. If the refs aren't the problem, then what do we have to lose.

It's easy to spot the posters that get paid $50 on Friday nights to ref a HS game.

frick this.
It will get called out as a factor when it’s particularly and objectively lopsided towards one team in any given game.
As it should.

Two things can be true at once.
LSU didn’t deserve to win.
The refs made calls that influenced the game.

Officials will always suck. I have no problem blaming them for bad calls because they will never not make them. It’s the whole ref conspiracy thing that I’m not on board with.

If the refs aren't the problem and deciding some games. Then what does the entire NCAA have to lose with giving each team 3 opportunities per half to dispute missed calls. The only reason anyone wouldn't want this to happen is because it would expose how bad it really is and that penalties happen on every single play. But the refs are picking and choosing when they want to throw the flags.
That's what I think it is. There is absolutely penalties that could be called on every play. But the refs are the ones that chose when they want to call it. Which leads to only one conclusion. The refs ARE deciding close games. The only ones the refs aren't a big part of are blowouts.
