Definitely grounds for dismissal. Dak (last MSU win) was more than 4 years ago

We’ve always known that our team will go as far as our other coaches can carry us. O can get kids on campus and motivate. His assistants are key. We lost 2 huge pieces in Aranda and Brady. How O’s choices to fill those vacancies do, will determine our future. Outside of the Brady selection I’ve been absolutely unimpressed with his offensive choices. We’ll let this year play out and see how it goes- lots of room for improvement on both sides of the ball as far as coaching goes.

Look, this was a bad loss. The team I saw on Saturday SUCKED and has issues in almost all phases of the game. There is a long way to go before we are out of "oh shite" territory.

But ask yourselves this: Does Orgeron generally identify and address our weaknesses? Every time there is an area of concern on this team, you see him go out and try to fix it. Issues he has identified and addressed:

-Our trenches are not good or deep.
-Our QB room is weak.
-We are too focused on LA recruits.
-Our offensive philosophy is not innovative.
-We are not getting the most out of the transfer portal and JUCO.
-Our players are too injury prone and not rested.

Unlike Les Miles, I have yet to see O throw up his hands and say "we've got what we've got." Honestly, right now is where I expect to see O at his best. This team has needs all over the field and I will be shocked if I do not see a massive effort to correct these problems.

A .500 record with a natty. Interesting trade-off. I'll take it!

Very nice take. I’m with you, let’s see how these issues are addressed. I doubt O will remain loyal to failed coaches. If he does, he needs to be gone.

To be a elite coach or college football program you are supposed to win these games.

I bet you think Lincoln Riley is an elite coach, right?

Easily. He's shown he can figure things out, and you know I was a vocal critic

There's a lot of special circumstances around this year, so no one should be writing the season off entirely yet. But if this what we get this year, he will need to make the same kinds of decision he made after 2017 when the Canada thing clearly didn't work. We will see if O got comfortable after last year or if he's still ready to make necessary changes ASAP

Then who would you consider to be elite?

Most of our coaches have had their teams that they have had issues with. The 2017 loss was a beatdown and it looked like the wheels were falling off. That State team did go on to win 9 games including their bowl though and LSU did drastically turn that season around.

Miles was getting destroyed by Arkansas and Ole Miss by the time he left. Saban lost twice to Arkansas in 3 years. So it happens. They are going to have to really coach them up this year due to the lack of experience.

Agreed. Canada was a one year experiment and he moved on. Problem was it took 2 years to fully address the issue. Too long. Then Brady leaves after one year so it’s back to the original archaic coaching choice and let’s throw in another archaic coach to help him. There are some young offensive minds who could do incredible things with our athletes. I’m definitely willing to see how this plays out. There were some decent things to build on offensively moving forward- I’m just not convinced we have the guys in the booth to make it happen.
