pretty sure it wasn't a cover 2 man, since our pass rush sucks and tebow is very good at scrambling.

evidently, according to what I've read on the Rant today, you can't have safety help if any player is playing man...and if you're playing man, you're required to be further downfield than the receiver...if you're not further downfield then you're in zone

fact of the matter is LSU still runs a SHITTY defensive team.

they have for the last 5 games now.

thing is, they have won the previous four, so it wasn't a issue when we were winning.

another point is that if tebow doesn't underthrow that pass BIG TIME for mccray to tease us with that tip, he's completely burned all the way downfield.

couple that with ducre almost catching that pass against LSU, and mccray is the scapegoat of the defense.

the kid is trying out there. can't fault him for that.

but he's not being put in a position to succeed.

bottomline is = LSU was outcoached.

I can't find the quote from Tebow, may have been in the paper Sunday, but he basically said that Harvin was covered so he put a little more air under the ball to see if Harvin could make a play on it...it was more of a crossing route than a vertical route that was underthrown...

do you want him to bash a 18-21 year old kid in public?

thus destroying any confidence he has left?

Exactly...glad someone else sees this. There's no such thing as safety help when you're manned up because the safety would basically be immitating the nickel/dime and that would be pointless. Taylor, meanwhile, was playing what looked like a 2 deep zone and just bit. That was all she wrote for him being able to help out on any deep play.

I will never personally attack a player, particulary as an anon message board poster. I don't care if McCray runs a 5.2 40, it's not his fault he is put in a one on one with Harvin. Since we never know who reads these boards, more do than you know, I cringe when I see players called out. Unless I see a player running to the sideline for a beer and blowing coverage, I am not gonna call em out.

Put the blame where it goes. The staff for making crappy personnel decisions.

I watched it again on my Tivo and it looks like Harvin gets away with a little push off...uh, I mean created some separation.

None of that makes any sense.

Actually it makes perfect sense. If you're manned up on a WR, for instance, why would you need a safety playing man on the same WR?

And taylor screwed up much worse than McCray. And that's not "safety help"...that's a regular 2 deep safety scheme. McCray could have been sitting down and it still isn't "safety help".

Nobody said he would be playing man on the same WR.

I have nothing against McCray but my take on him is that if that was the only time that happened then so be it, make the play next time. However, he continually gets burned and whether its his fault or not on the plays, something needs to be changed with him/ the coverage to where those mistakes do not happen.

Personally, I say move him to nickle linebacker replacing whatever linebacker and bring in another corner to be in coverage. That way we get a better combo of run support and coverage.

It's called taking responsibility as a leader, and giving your guys confidence. If Lee goes into halftime at the Auburn game as shitty as he had performed and Miles says nothing to get him back into it, we don't score another fricking point in that game. If you have a problem with Miles deliberately taking the heat for the loss, feel free to follow a team like Florida or South Carolina where the players are thrown under the bus.
