Why doesn't it matter that his helmet was on Blue's right/back side when blue had not touched the ball yet? That is a clip!

How can he pass Blue on Blue's back side after making a legal hit on his front side. He can't... Not physically possible.

Who is "Atlanta Blue" and why should I believe him?

If he was the scorer of the game as he claims then he is identifiable. His credibility may be questioned, but then I could very well ask who is whieyc777 and why should I believe him?

Seems like everyone has their own interpretation of this rule. You would think the NCAA would clarify it so it doesn't happen again.

The bottom line we need to remember is, that this call did not change the outcome of the game. We all know the SEC refs every year create controversy because of calls they make or don't make. We can only hope that the attention of this call will clarify for the Refs what should or should not be watched for on an onside kick. I know that is wishful thinking but we can hope that the outcome of games will not be affected.

When have I ever asked anybody to believe me?

This particular call didn't change the outcome of the game but....I hope to god we don't run into that again. I thought it was a blatantly and unbelievably bad blown call. It's amazing to me that there are people out there that say it was clean. Unreal.

You missed this part:

a. This protection terminates when the kick touches the ground, when any player
of Team B muffs a scrimmage kick beyond the neutral zone, or when any
player of Team B muffs a free kick in the field of play or in the end zone (Rule
6-5-1-a) (A.R. 6-4-1-IV).

As much as I'd like to agree with you, this was a legal play.

After 15 years officiiating high school, I now officiate in the Southland conference so I know this book well.

Pretty scary that a southland conference official came on here and argued that it was the correct call. Then again it is the Southland Conference. But wouldn't surprise me if there aren't plenty more officials in BCS conferences that do not fully understand the rule.

The bottom line we need to remember is, that this call did not change the outcome of the game.

It does however become frustrating when it occurs year after year & seems to more frequently go against LSU --- perhaps that's just my biased view. And the illegal contact was not too subtle since it was obvious from my seat (sec. 224, row 1, seat #13) and the refs are supposed to be watching for it.

Since I am not a lawyer and don't know all the loop holes in these rules, the only thing that I say is LSU needs an interpretation. If it was a legal hit, IF. Then LSU should use this tactic often. But, it is going to cause injuries.

There is no loop hole it's pretty clear cut.

You have the right mindset. Saturday I thought I was going to have a stroke during the game between that call and our team's 2nd half play.

At least there is one person on here that understands and it sure ain't the Southland Conference Official!!!! :inexcusable:
