The correct comparison would be to Florida State. If Les had been coaching FSU and was down by 22. He would have kept running Cook into the line of scrimmage against Ole Miss. He would have been throwing on 3 and 9 and punting of 4th down. He would have never opened up and let his QB play to erase a 22 point deficit. That's the realization.

No one is saying anything about the ProStyle, it works no doubt about it but Les Miles way isn't working and damn sure isn't superior to anything. I mean NOTHING! Bring a real coach in that can creat match ups and attack a defense the way smart football is supposed to be played and all will be happy. Les Miles could bring in a proven college OC, leave him to do his job and everyone would be fine with Les but that isn't what is happening. I love pro style it works but you have to be creative and practice the things you want to accomplish in games. Not just situations but an actual game plan with situations. It's all too late now though, it's time we go our separate ways with this guy. He's had his shot now it's time for someone else to get that shot (Tom Herman). I think it's now deeper than just play calling, I don't think what he is practicing is working his culture he's now created as of late isn't working. The players are uninspired, lazy, and seems like they simply here to get a million dollar pay check and that's it. TIME FOR CHANGE and this will not change until it's done.

What's the strategy behind not getting first downs and scoring points?

You do know that the point of an offense is to score more points than the other team right?
Therefore, your entire point goes out the window, because that's not what we do.

When was the last time LSU scored 34 points against a top 5 team?

LSU and Alabama play similar offenses. the difference is that Bama wins NC's and we languish against good teams and lose 2-4 per year. why is that? Bama gets great OL play and very serviceable QB play. they are COACHED correctly. they also are a more disciplined team.

LSU adopted a spread offense would be a huge mistake. I think we should run some plays that spread the field and require the D to defend more of the field. that is a big difference from running the thread. NC teams control the clock. Wisconsin killed us controlling the clock.

Have to get a lead to sit on a lead.

Other than personnel, I see no reason why either coach, Miles or Freeze, can't adjust to the current situation in-game and play call accordingly. I don't remember the 11th commandment on those stone tablets reading "the game plan at the beginning of quarter 1 shall be the same game plan with 2min to go".

By the way, Ole Miss had a perfect reason to stick with it last night. Suspect tackles, their TE's are smaller than Dural, and they were down to 1 RB.

not really. not anymore

Saban adapted a long time ago and we keep on going with our i-form, 1 TE base set

Bama runs a lot of shotgun sets early and primarily runs out of single back

The Miles way isn't superior but you do bring up a good point. Ole Miss was cruising until a Chad Kelly int in the 3rd. Then FSU gained momentum and Ole Miss couldn't do anything. It was stupid on Ole Miss however to continue trying to hurry even after they were getting sacked and losing yardage on plays. Their drives were lasting less than a minute and FSU was getting the ball back. FSU's offense is awesome. Great balance. Power running game. Lots of presnap movement to get guys in space.

Is this why elected to throw while in FG territory to end the game.
The 35 isn't quite in LSU FG range and a pass with a minute left isn't a terrible call.
No need to deflect from the terrible execution on that play.

Ole Piss and the golden boy at QB,,,,end up doing the same thing they do every year. Their defensive lineman is a monster though.

The Miles power game is not sexy. It doesn't have the biggest boobs (although might arguably be run by the boob) or entity blondest hair but it eats up clock and yards. It keeps the score down so LSU always has a chance.

I'll agree with your assessment of Ole Miss and the jack rabbit spread offense, and I will grant you as well that a competent CONFIDENT ball control offense is the way to go if you want to control the game. But Les abandons the pass too quickly so ball control relies to much on the run game.
