The “new” OT rules favor the coin toss winner more than previous setup.

The NFL changed theirs after the 2009 NFC championship game to allow both teams to posses the ball.
NCAA changed theirs after a poorly officiated final drive resulted in a 7 OT game.
With the requirement to go for 2 in the second OT and alternating who possesses the ball first, the team that wins the toss has an advantage and should always go for 2 in first OT.
UK has benefitted two weekends in a row. LSU did in 2022 vs. Bama.
It’s certainly not as “unfair” as the original NFL OT but I do think something needs to change. Either moving the starting possession back to the 45-50 or at least not requiring the 2Pt conversion until 3rd OT.

It’s always been that way. Underdog team is gonna go for 2 everytime as well.

Requiring and allowing are 2 different things
And under the college rules the team that goes on defense has always had the advantage

It’s almost like they need a rule that if first to get ball scores a td and goes for 2, then the 2nd team should be forced to go for 2 as well. It puts first team in a bind kicking xtra point and then 2nd team has a chance to win based off circumstance

Yes. Knowing if they need a FG or TD. Which is why I think the starting line should be moved back to require the offense to move the ball some.

Let the game end in a tie except playoffs.

The greatest announcing moment happened right then.
“I’m not surprised Kentucky is going to play defense first”
You’re not surprised? If they chose offense Will would be fired ??

We had a chance to win on 4th and 1 in regulation, stop making excuses

Or make oT like the NFL so its real football. You have to drive the ball to get a score.

The two-pt conversion is a minor issue compared to the potential of a game winning FG by the team that goes second. Team that goes first almost has to go for it on 4th unless it's been a 6-6 type kicker's battle all day. That's a huge advantage but it's not unfair because the advantage is decided by coin flip.

Correct. I don’t think it should be eliminated but in the current scenario, UK is going to get the ball first in 2OT and be required to go for 2 with a TD. It’s dumb for them not to do so in the first OT when they have complete control.
Pushing it back to 3OT at least makes the coach think about simply kicking the XP in 1OT since they wouldn’t be required to go for 2 on next possession.

No excuses made. I even point out that LSU has benefitted from this scenario.

Reminder that the defense had UK on a 3rd and 8 in OT. A UK team that was 1/22 from 3rd and long on the season.
LSU proceeded to give up a 22 yard pass.

I swear some of y'all don’t read. I’m well aware of what happened.

Tjhe odds of converting a two point attempt are slightly less than 50%. Where is the advantage to going second, other than knowing what you have to accomplish? If you are going first, and don’t want to lose on a two point conversion then go for two after your own TD.

Has nothing to do with new rules.
I’ve been saying since 2007 that we should have gone for two when we had the second possession.
Especially in that Arkansas game. We never had a prayer to stop DMC on a 2 pt conversion and it felt that way last night too.
Unfortunately when you have first possession you just can’t do it.
Sucks, but I don’t know how to fix it.

To this point. Going second you’re going to be required to convert two in a row. Might as well run your best play.

Outside of going to NFL setup. You basically would have to eliminate kicking entirely.
