The Maason Smith sack and whether there was a face mask

I know there was some question whether there was a face mask or not. I found this highlight video and the play is at the 6:30 mark. The first and only contact was on the inside right shoulder pad of Cook. If you go frame by frame he never grabs the face mask.

Mason Smith was roughly 10 years old when this video was made.

Womack fought off a double team and was next in line to get the sack if the QB didn’t go down

It always looked like it was just the shoulder to me.

Grazed the face mask and hand/arm came over the shoulder to spin the QB and take him down with Womack at his feet.
As terrible as the refs were in this game that was a good no call.

He didn't grab the face mask but his arm went across the face mask causing Cooks head to turn. That's why Drinkwitz wanted a facemask but he rightly didn't get one.

I thought this was a facemask till this...watching it again, what told me it wasn't a facemask is that the QB didn't signal to anyone that his facemask was grabbed.
In today's football environment, everyone signals if they think a penalty occurred...Cook didn't even think to do that....good no call...and surprising the crew got this right.

To hell with that so called facemask. How about the blatant offsides that evryone on the field, in the stands and whomever watched on TV saw, the massive holding on one of our guys that would have been a key sack, the obvious goaline TD's not called or reviewed and the field goal that I swear was good.

Also the penalties for clapping I know this was called on both teams, but I just can't let it go. So dumb.
As for the facemask, my gut is that he got his shoulder and his forearm might have grazed the facemask, but it's so fast it's hard to tell. This broadcast was lacking in slow-mo replays. I wouldn't have been surprised if they flagged it though

It’s incredible how much people are influenced by RG3 ranting.

The replay they showed in the stadium certainly looked like a facemask

Literally the first gesture he makes when he stands up is grabbing his face mask ??. He actually does it twice. We were at the game. They zoomed in on it and he absolutely grabbed tf out of it but I’m glad it went our way lol
