That was an outstanding article! We are lucky to have not only a great coach, but an even better person at the helm.

Great article. He really is a class act.

Isn't Wright Thompson the son of Hunter Thompson from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?
After looking it up, I'll answer my own question, No, he is not the son of Hunter S. Thompson.

When he was an assistant coach at Michigan, a friend got him an all-access pass to an NBA Finals game in Detroit. He wandered the belly of the arena and found himself in Chuck Daly's press conference. Well, Miles couldn't just sit there. He asked a question, evidently a tough one, because Daly glared at the back of the room and asked what newspaper he was from. Miles sort of gulped, as he remembered, thought for a moment, and came out with the name of the campus student paper. "The Michigan Daily," he said, before being hustled out of the room by his friend

His love for his dad reminds me of the current thread here at TD about loved ones who aren't around anymore to see the LSU-Bama game.

Jesus, reading this article is making me tear up thinking about what I used to say about Miles.

Not many coaches at the college or pro level can be as good of a coach and father as Miles.

He treats his players like family too. Great guy.

I seem to recall some rantards claiming Miles' players didn't like or respect him. I hope they read this article.

Glad everyone seems to have found as much enjoyment from that piece as I did. We don't often get glimpses like that, but I think the fact that we, through Wright Thompson, were even allowed to is a testament to what kind of person our coach is. Win or lose, I'm glad he's one of us!

MUST READ!!! The Les You Know
This makes me think - re some other threads concerning GG.

Guilbeau writes the way he does because he is not capable of writing anything like this.

Wright is in another universe as a writer than Guilbeau. Read up on Wright's history. He's very, very good. I'm just glad he decided Les was worth the effort of one of his articles because it is awesome.

Glad it got stickied.

Wright Thompson is a bourbon drinking SEC grad and a great writer

Technically true...now. He is a Missouri School of Journalism Grad and freaky talented. Grew up in Clarksdale, MS. He covered LSU football for the Times Picayune while Saban was at LSU.
