Idk man Bregman was solid. He had way more balls hit at him since the new balls caused the strikeouts to go up and he still had pretty much the same fielding percentage as Milam.

He was very solid. But he had 4 total errors in the 2013 postseason alone including a crucial one in the CWS. It was not his brightest spot in the most important games.

Bregman has never had a higher fielding percentage than Milam. He was not as fluid as Milam. If you compare like for like Milam had a .978 fielding percentage as a freshman and Bregman was .933. As a sophomore Milam is at .977 and Bregman was at .966. Bregman was a better hitter, but that’s about it.

Bregman had 17 errors his freshman year and Milam had 5. Also Bregman fielding .933 as a freshman isn’t that good.

Correct that was my point. He improved by the time he left, but his overall defense is over inflated by some on here.

There’s a fair point. I thinks there’s a lot to be said about his range though. His putouts in 2015 are almost double what Milam has. I know the pitching is great this year but double is a lot to solely blame on balls and good pitching

Fair point. Now he did also play in the climax of the dead bat era as well which could have something to do with that as well as the crazy amount of strikeouts we’ve achieved this year. We have a total of 214 more strikeouts this year than the 2013 team did. Honestly crazy when seeing that number I’m surprised the difference is so high.

Geez. Yeah that will definitely limit the number of groundballs. We need to appreciate that while we have it

This is very tall claim.

Yea, Bergman’s fielding % is a tick lower than Milam, but Bregman also got to balls most SS only dreamed of having a chance at. He made some plays up the middle that would make you shake your head in disbelief that he even had a chance at the ball.

It’s Bregman for me dog.

Best defensive shortstop in lsu history

All you young turks need to look up Jeff Reboulet - played SS on McDonald’s CWS team. Drafted in the 10th Rd and played professionally for 10yrs.

Was a different game back then, but was the heart of the 1986 infield.

Short memory huh? Bregman was a literal weekly SC top 10 fielder. I love Milam but his range and arm is no where close to Bregman.

I absolutely loved watching Russ Johnson and Todd Walker play for LSU in the early '90s. But their greatness was what they did at the plate most of the time. It was always an adventure cuz they might boot a routine ball and then turn around and have a tremendous double play.

This LSU team has managed to make me not even concerned with the difficult plays. That's how good they are. Best in LSU history
