Do you remember the third and House threads during the first game?

Did the defense suck in the first game? It’s called the Rant and when you frick up, you get called out for it. The defense was arse on third down against Florida Stare. The numbers don’t lie. In the spirit of fairness, the defense has improved since then and House deserves credit. The third-down numbers showed that Saturday.

This is no different than last year when the defense was garbage and we were all over Daronte Jones. Then they tweaked some things and the defense was actually respectable the rest of the season.

Things evolve. Opinions can evolve. But when a unit is underperforming, there’s nothing wrong with calling out a coach on it. And when they improve, nothing wrong with praising that coach. Sorry if some criticism hurts the feels of some babies on this board, but deal with it.

The coverage by the DB's was definitely surprisingly good considering it was going against Leach's passing Offense.

There were also a number of good plays by Ward and Brooks to stop the action at the LOS.

Unfortunately we came out of the gates vs FSU and didn't have a "warm up" game for the players and coaches. Hopefully that game helped speed up the urgency and process.

I like Brian Kelly's style. Stands on the sideline observing. Almost stoic expression. Taking names presumably. The adjustments at halftime during the Miss State game was what convinced me this guy is for real.

I recall he did come alive when Daniels misplaced those two sideline passes. Wrong shoulder.

that complements that personnel.

Congratulations for using this correctly.

99 percent of this board would have used “compliments.”

Matt house is the best hire Kelly has made...by far.

The dude has put together a good attacking defense in 8 months. I am pumped for the future on that side of the ball.

It’s a damn shame we couldn’t pull out that first win against FSU. We should not be playing games like that against teams with warm-up games.

Or maybe people on here need to not be drama queens, drawing conclusions part way through the first game of team with a whole new coaching staff and somewhere around 10 scholarship players short?

And if they can't withhold judgement for a few games, expect to get called out for it?

After Ed O was canned and he let his coordinators coach. After the Ole Miss game Lane called Ed and said your D is very predictable. But it took like 6-7 games and a call from Lane to get some changes.

I’m very encouraged by the progress, I love BK and the coaching staff (except ST) and I think we will continue to progress and get better…
I hope I’m wrong but I think everyone expecting Daniels to get significantly better throwing downfield are going to be disappointed…this is his 4th year as a starter and the light bulb has not come on in that regards yet, I don’t see it happening this year either.
He is a good player, world class athlete and he will win some games for us but I think this is who he is and it’s not changing

Once Daniels starts seeing the open guys down field, and the special teams puts in a complete game, we will be hard to beat...our defense looks great.
