HeismanTrophy
Awarded for the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

Please read above requirements to win the HeismanTrophy and explain to me how Fournette didn't make it as a finalist last season. Not just last season, but at the end of many seasons a more deserving player is snubbed due to his team's won/loss record
Shame on you if you get sucked into the BS Heisman speculation again this year.
It's just a glorified beauty pageant and lacks the integrity it claims to seek.

IDGAF about the heisman but it LF7 were to win it, it would bring attention and prestige to the program. its a great recruiting tool as well

They lost credibility when Mathieu didn't win.

McCaffery not winning it last year proved how big of a fraud it is.

This is common knowledge.

I can't be convinced that every year since forever the best player has been a RB or a QB.

I don't know man. RGIII. Andrew Luck. That's pretty stiff competition.

I haven't cared one bit about the Hypesman trophy since ESPN gave it to Charles Woodson over Manning. That was when the trophy became a joke.

Gino Torretta says it all to me. Arguably the least talented player of Miami's starting 22, not to mention 2nd team guys and he has a Heisman.

Edit to say that award is good PR.

I'm not sure. RG3 was also a "one-man gang" in college as well, but I won't stop you from bitching about Mathieu losing it.

But that's my criteria. The first Heisman was given to Jay Berwanger who was described as a "one-man team (or gang)".

Recently, guys like Tebow, Cam Newton, Luck, Manziel, and RG3 even...seemed to correct the outrageous off-course veering where the award for decades unjustly went to "the leader of a title-contending team".

Which resulted in either a dominating Marshall Faulk losing to a mediocre "leader" in Gino Torretta for a Miami juggernaut.

...or it forced someone on a mediocre team having to put up ungodly numbers like Barry Sanders did at OkSt in order to win it.

Now it seems to have gone off-course again when one-man-gangs like Fournette or McCaffrey are not etched on the Heisman.

Oh I don't care about it anymore.

Amari Cooper was the highest voted WR since Larry Fitz more than a decade prior, and AJ McCarron was runner up when he had a "gaudy" 2675 pass yards and 26 pass TDs (stats that couldn't get you in the top 5 in the last decade).

Henry beat out a QB, Watson, who not only had the gaudy heisman #s, but took a team in Clemson, undefeated through the regular season for the 1st time since 1981.

Ingram (1540 rush yards 15 TDs 320 receiving yards 3 TDs at time of ceremony) beat out McCoy who had over 3800 total yards, 30 total TDs, and a 70.6% cmp rate on an undefeated Texas team.

Look, I agree that Mathieu was the best player in college football in 2011. However, everyone knows that his suspension likely cost him because it showed a lack of integrity.

I'm glad he was invited to New York because it still honored the type of season he had.

Screw the Heisman. Football is a team sport. If you want individual glory play singles tennis.

It has become the MVP of the winning team. At the very least, it is the MVP of a player in the final two.
