I'm not sure why so many people feel this way. He is elite as an offensive coach. Unlike Lincoln Riley, he has shown the ability to want to play defense. Is he a bit immature? Sure. I don't know if he ever wins it all at Ole Miss, but I think he if found himself in the right place he absolutely could.

For years I always told the Ole Miss and Miss State fans to talk to me when they won a baseball championship thinking it would never happen and lo and behold they each won one back to back. So it can happen as unlikely as it is.

Any chance Dart goes southward to Baton Rouge? That would be the coupe de grace for the Tigers if they pull that off

Baseball… you see coastal Carolina win a National championship. Football… you would never see coastal Carolina win a championship.

As an LSU fan I shake my head and laugh at them, but if I were a MSU fan I’d be pissed (jealous) that they are able to get all these transfers.

Yea and 2 of those 3 losses this past year against teams with a different portal philosophy were wins for LSU in 2022. One was a blow out win.

See I can do that too

Comparing what Texas A&M did is apples and oranges different than what Florida State and Ole Miss did.

Texas A&M spent all of that money on high school players (which everyone is doing now). Florida State and Ole Miss bought a lot of older proven transfers.

I’m just saying

That’s not the point. The OP was lamenting portal ability, not desire.

LSU isn’t going after those players because they don’t want to, not because they can’t.

You can disagree of course, but let’s be honest about it.

The problem is both right now. Organizational structural issues and philosophy as it relates to the transfer portal

This is silly

Coastal Carolina and Fresno State have won baseball titles in the past 20 years.

If you want to see how close Ole Miss is to winning a football national title, watch their UGA game from this season. What they've added in the portal isn't going to bridge that gap. Their 2024 team will be able to compete with anyone on any given Saturday, but they don't have the depth or front-line talent (who is another first-round talent besides Nolen?) to win 15 games.

Speaking of Ole Miss, few weeks back there was mention of Austin Thomas possibly coming back. Any more on that? Maybe he could help improve our NIL organization and creativity.

The poster wasn't referring to Alabama as one of those teams. He was referring to Ole Miss and Florida State as the two teams with different philosophies. We didn't beat Florida State either time.

Lane Kiffin has been a head coach for 14 seasons - 9 of those seasons were terrible for his team. I mean you have 14 years of track record to look at, I’d say that’s a large enough sample size.

I don’t bitch about it, I’m not jealous of other schools who spend more, I don’t make threads whining (or bragging) about LSU’s NIL wins (or losses). I don’t urge others donate, nor chastise those who don’t.

I’m agnostic about it. I don’t hate it or love it. I just don’t care about it.

Maybe so. But that’s not the topic I was replying to.
