I know this is a fan message board.
But playoffs? Really? Now?
I wish we all had the attention span it takes to focus on this one next game, next. And quit counting unhatched chickens.

You are correct. There's a reason they don't start the playoff talk at the beginning of the season. Teams get better and worse. Beat #1 & #2, we'd have an argument. Chance of it happening this year - Very slim...but hey, seen crazy things happen...

Turn your tv to ESPN. State making a run to 6-2. The blowout after the big win against us is understandable. They have not lost to bad teams.

Short answer: you’re wrong.

Stop, your logic is ignorant. We lost by 30 to State. State then lost by 28 and then 39 the following 2 weeks. There are 3 teams that State beat by more than 30, one was UK, one was Charleston Southern, and one was Louisiana Tech.

I really wonder what you were saying before they beat TAMU.

LSU has no shot, not because they lost to Troy, but because they can't beat Alabama.

The one thing about the Troy loss is that it was early in the season. If we were to actually run the table the argument could be made that no team is playing better than LSU, the SEC Champion.

Remember they tried to talk up Georgia that year saying they were playing the best football in the country, and Georgia didn't even win their division. So there was at least talk.

I'm not saying we would get in, but I could see it happening.

First of all, we are fans, so we don't have to focus on one game at a time. My mindset on Saturday afternoon and evening will have absolutely zero effect on whether LSU wins or loses.

Second of all, fivethirtyeight.com, who do a bunch of data-driven analysis, has a prediction for the remainder of the college football season HERE. You can select that any team wins out to see their chances of winning their conference, making the playoff or winning the national championship.

If you pick LSU to win out, we have the best chance of all schools to make the playoff. So while it may or may not happen, it is certainly not ludicrous rantings of only irrational LSU fans.

Side note: I really really really hate the Alabama football team. I so hope we win Saturday.

The SEC champion is going to the playoff. No questions asked. So if LSU wins out and wins the SEC, they’re in.

LSU has zero chance of making the playoff. Even by winning out.

They will NOT take 2 teams from the same conference.

And anyone who thinks a 2 loss SEC Champion LSU team that lost to Troy will get in over a 1 loss Alabama (that didn’t even make he conference championship game) is just delusional.

They will have NO SEC team in the playoff before LSU this year.

Hey will take both Ohio State and Penn State before a 2 loss team that got beat by Troy at home.

Yes it sucks but it is fact.

They need to expand the playoff, improve scheduling, and have less bowls overall. Money talks, though

The solution is so simple.
Have 6 conferences (tell ND to join one or be left out).

The conference championships serve as round 1 of the playoff. Then the 6 conference champions are seeded and the top 2 get a bye.

The higher seeds get a true home game and the NC game is rotated through the major bowl venues.

The Bowl games are just consolation prizes for teams that didnt make the playoff.

Losing to State in and of itself isn’t, but losing by 30 is.

A two loss SEC champ LSU will be left out if Ohio St., Oklahoma,Clemson and ND all only have one loss........

And don't forget about A one loss Bama team....

You do realize that none of us are playing in the game, right?

We can focus and discuss whatever and it has ABSOLUTELY ZERO effect on next week’s game. Or any other game for that matter.

Players need to focus, fans can dream.

Well it’s really just a matter of opinion. In my book a 30 point loss to Miss State is an awful loss. In yours it’s not. In my book, a thirty point loss to any team is an awful loss.

While it was certainly a bad loss – it was mostly self inflicted bc of penalties and sloppy play on LSU's part. It wasnt like Miss St dominated that game.

senario for AU

I didnt feel like retyping all this.
I wrote out the most likely senario for AU to make the playoffs. To make this senario for LSU the only change is LSU doesnt lose to either Ark, Tenn or ATM.

Again this is the most likely senario for AU or LSU. Yes these teams could all lose to different opponents, but i picked the games with the best odds for LSU

The circumstances this year are kinda like LSU in 2007 when we had 2 losses and made the BCS.

EXPLAIN THIS ONE

In 2007 our 2 losses were to SEC teams in TRIPLE OT. And we beat a Top 10 Virginia Tech team 48-7.

In 2017 we had a historic worst loss to State and got kicked around by Troy AT HOME. We did have a comeback against a “Top 10” team after being down by 20.

2017 is NOTHING like the playoff/BCS chase in 2007. Except that we have 2 inexplicable losses.

It was the worst loss to State in 124 seasons of LSU football. Is that better?
