The reason is that James Cregg committed recruiting violations. This is widely known.

No. If he wanted to fire him because he can't recruit or coach, he would have done it in February.

He fired an Asst. Coach in June.
Elite coaches fire asst. coaches.
Ergo, he's an "elite" coach.
Anybody see any holes in this?

Thats article is bullshite. Cregg got caught doing something wrong, its as simple as that.

Cregg was a friend of Orgeron, this wasn't a power move, it was due to infractions.

Who I blame on Dabo and the player in question.

What about the hiring of Pelini? Is that what elite coaches do? Is the goal to have the worst defense in school history?

He did hire Brady. He did recruit the greatest QB in LSU history. He did coach the greatest LSU team in history.

Whatever it was, Cregg did something that required his immediate removal. That was not poor coaching. I'm not even trying to speculate...

Ed is an elite head coach. Nobody and I mean NOBODY would debate that.

It is the type of hire that elite coaches do not make.
